I can only think of two "American Idol" winners who actually have careers. As for the "Canadian Idol" winners, where are they now?

Actually, I hear and see a lot more of the Canadian Idol participants than I do of the American Idol winners. Melissa O'Neil has been recording and touring with Rex Goudie and I think she is doing alright as far as record sales go. Kalan Porter has being doing good as far as album sales go as well! Theresa Sokyrka seems to be in the recording studio and doing well. We all know that Jacob Hoggard is doing phenomenal with his band "Hedley!"

Elena Juatco has been doing a lot of television appearances etc. She's not singing, but I think she got a career out of it! She's a regular CTV personality.

I think I heard that Audrey de Montigny has made herself quite a career since competing in "Idol."

The only one that surprises me, is Ryan Malcolm! I never hear anything about what's going on with him! I actually liked him and I'm disappointed that I haven't seen or heard more of him since he won the title.

All of this is from the top of my head, so I'm not clear on details. The "Idols' and other contestants appear to be doing what they intended to do by entering the competition. I am not disappointed by whom we have chosen as our "Idols!"

I wish I could say the same about the "American Idol!" Aside from Kelly Clarkson, any mention or radio play of the others is almost non-existent! It could be the fact that I am in Canada, but still... good music usually flows across the border.

I'm content with how we pick our "Idols," but I wonder about how they are managed and marketed after the competition. Did you have any ideas or suggestions as to what could or should be changed? I can't think of any, myself.

I'm including a couple of links for those who aren't familiar with the "Canadian Idol."

I don't think the way they are picked is the problem. If they are supposed to be the "Canadian Idol" or "American Idol", then I guess it is appropriate for the citizens to vote for their "Idol". I think the problem comes after they win and what they do with them. I have come to the conclusion that it is better not to win but to at least place in the top 5. I seem to hear more about the ones that didn't win.

Some of it may have to do with the type of music they record once they are done with the competition. If they record more of the pop/rock music you will hear them more on the main radio stations and see them more on music videos. But if they are supposed to be the "Idols" for Canadians or Americans, their music should appeal to a wider audience. Otherwise it should be call Pop Star or Rock Star or Country Star or R&B Star, etc.

Yeah, didn't they have an Indian, German, and of course Brithish Idol as well? I remember seeing World Idol when Kelly Clarkson had to compete against a number of Idols from different countries. She lost to some guy from Russia I think who sang, "It's a Beautiful Day."

well it is all about ratings and money... it really isnt about who the very best is and it isnt really about who gets the most votes.. it is who the producers want to win...

I dont think that if they change the way america votes or a new voting system or a new way to pick the winner will make a difference.... this is the deal they want america to think that they are picking a winner... so america will buy buy buy .... but in reality the winner is picked by the ones who run the show.

its out fault for getting caught up in it... i do it every year. TV is all about money. the rich keep getting richer .. thatsjust the way it is

I think they should just cancel the show. America has been picking the wrong people.
