A hard lesson from elementary school....
as in "learn this" "memorize this" "this is important"
unfortunately, some people never outgrow this mentality;
it's in print , it must be true....
besides lacking common sense, critical/rational thinking...it is a self limiting characteristic in that such people rarely strive to read at a higher critical level....there's a sense of safety being told what to think rather than struggling to form ones own ideas
and what an insult to the gulls....they deserve better than that
such a pejorative term for such a friendly bird !!!

No one teaches thier kids how to analyze a situation before speaking there mind/reacting to it. This not only fosters a general lack of respect but also projects an air of stupidity.
I do agree with some of the responses from above in that it all depends on the people you choose to be with but unfortunately in this forum there isn't much of a choice!
So the answer is... "Why can't we just all get along!"

Surveyor: 5 years ago I actually believed that when my teacher said that to me. He got a great laugh at it though.
However, just a year after that someone lied to me that changed my world and I've never believed someone unless I'm positively sure it's the truth.
What can you say... you'll find someone like that everywhere you go.
Stay safe. - Maryam

never tire of the gullible, they are the young optimists of the world. People who get irritated by them are ussually pessimists that need to lighten it up a notch or two.

YES! I think it is our public school fault too, some teachers (not all of them) teach from opinions!
