How often do big corporate companies purge old employee files?

It would be dependent on what type of company it is; is the company federally regulated? If it is, then office files to include employee records are maintained for 7 years. Two years on-site and five years off-site or in a storage facility. If it's not federally regulated, then typically companies maintain employee records for two years.
