Sorry this is kind of a alternate view of one of the question posters about black history month, BET, NAACP, etc. Why do we have all these things when everyone in the US can't or disagree with celebrating them. i mean Cloumbus didn't even discover America. How can you discover a place where people already lived. Chritmas is celebrated by christians, but what about muslims, buddist, jewish, etc. Thanksgiving is not a day of celbration for native indians. I know I can't benefit from going to a tanning salon. What would i do with botox. My lips are full enough as it is. I know I'm gonna get some hate, but what's wrong with having things beneficial to your culture and heritage without it being a considered a slap in the face to someone else. It's hurful, i mean truly hurtful some of the views people have on this. Even people who aren't racist disagree sometimes. Why can't we have celebration in our culture differences without being seen as bad people? Just hurtful.

I think accepting each other's differences is part of inhabiting this world. If something has no meaning to me, I just go on my way. I personally don't expect to be included in everything or use every service or product that's out there.

I'm sure that the Holidays, some have a commercial reason for wanting it, (Stores make money), but some do see it as a religious reason. Jewish do haver their holidays too. That's the joy(or stress in your case) of living in America. Everyone has different beliefs, religions, and opinions. And we can speak them if we want to. If America was perfect and everything was politically correct and everyone kept their opinions to themselves. And so on....we would be boring. No one is perfect. WHich could be a good thing. I don't understand either about the cosmetic surgeries, but that's their problem. Enjoy this crazy world, and stop worrying about everything being perfect.

What we have to realize is that sadly racism is here to stay. It has been around forever and it will stay. Might not be easily seen on the surface but it does exist. People will always have something negative to say about something. So if we can celebrate everything else why not have a day of celebration for BLACKS! and please don't anyone say anything about White History Month because your people weren't put on slave ships.

I feel you. But that's just the world we live in. People are too consumed with themselves to change, so it's something we just have to deal with.
