I am 35 weeks pregnant and have an apt tomorrow to get checked for dialation and some other stuff for the first time. I assume as soon as you start going to the doctors once a week.

From my perspective i would not think they would check you for dilating for just an routine office visit. Would wait till you started labor before they would do much of that. Then again always learning something new.

About 37 weeks because the process of checking you can startthings in motion so they try to wait, but each doctor is different

Late, Late, Late in the pregnancy. Anywhere from 38-40 weeks. They don't like to do internal exams a lot when you are pregnant to avoid bacteria/infection that could be harmful to the baby.
