I used to joke around that I thought deja vu happens because perhaps life repeats itself so many times that we begin to remember bits and pieces... but I've said it so many times that I think maybe it's a possibility.
It's always a surreal creepy feeling when it happens.
What are your thoughts?

i think that when i experience deja vu that it is a small memory of the plan that i made for this life time before i decided to embark on it. so, when i have deja vu i know that i am on the right path, or at least the one that i planned to be on at the time that i experience the deja vu..so i think that you are pretty right on there. the sub-conscience doesn't have a sense of humor, so when we think we are joking around about something....well, we're not. i don't think it is a surreal creepy feeling. maybe you feel that cause you haven't accepted your own explanation...

Some claim that the feeling of deja vu comes from the mind constantly, unconsciously, playing out countless possibilities.

I remember I went to a town in the north of Italy for the first time and I felt like I had already been there. I guess I was experiencing a moment of déjà vu.
Maybe when we sleep our soul floats around and visits places ;-)

We have many experiences in our lives that are re-lived repeatedly; and we just feel like we went through the situation before.
