Religion and ethnic group both. To simplify, a person is born a Jew because they have a Jewish mother. They will always remain an ethnic Jew, but may or may not practice the religion also. It used to be difficult to convert to the Jewish religion, but Reform rabbis are more liberal and some Conservatives will also assist. People who convert are usually doing so because their spouse is a Jew, or their father but not their mother was born a Jew. A few people who do not have this family connection also convert, but it is somewhat more difficult to find a willing Rabbi or congregation.
A lot of people figuratively worship gold and money, they are found in every ethnic group and "race" not just the Jewish! There are not that many Jews in the world, and many are happy to live in other countries, not just Israel! In fact, in the US many Jews who once thought they might like to live in Israel, no longer want to do so.
There are no plans for a settlement in Australia! What have you been reading? If something you're reading or hearing sounds a little hateful or one-sided, it's probably incorrect and slanted.
Zionists are Jews who support Israel. That's a broad definition. A more narrow definition used by some people, is that Zionists are militant supporters of Israel who want to expand permanently into the territories (surrounding the present state of Israel, again not Australia!)

Being jewish is not necesarily a religious thing (practicing or non practicing), it is more of heritage. HOWEVER, following the Jewish faith means that they adhere to that religion. Then there are different sects, orthodox, zionist, __ For Jesus, etc. But these Jews are not necessarily Jews by heritage. You would have to ask each Jew what they believe and how to get this answer. I am not sure why you are asking, but this is something that you could ask any Jew that you know. I am not Jewish, but have asked, and they will tell you where they stand. There are millions of Jew but they dont ALL want the same thing. If you don't like it that the Zionists want Palestine, ask them why they do want it. And ask a Muslim the same reason why he wants it. Then read the Bible and see why they will fight over that land forever!

From what I remember (yes, I have asked the same question many times) from Microsoft Encarta, there was a video of a Jewish man saying that, 3000 years ago, one could not have been a Jew if the did not follow the Torah (Judaism). So being a Jew must be a religion! Besides, I always found it rather wrong that if the Jews were the "chosen people", those who were just born as a "Jew" would be saved from Judgement Day!

You need to study the Bible then you will find all the information you need about the Jews, if it weren't for the Jews you would not have knowen that their was one G-D, the Jews are G-D's chosen people, G-D gave mankind the earth, but to the Jews he gave them Israel, the land he promised their fathers, Abraham, Jacob and Isaac, If you have notices the Dome of the Rock is built over the Jewish Temple, and when Jesus was walking around in Israel their was no Dome of the Rock, so you need to study history. G-D said he would put the Jews back into their land and he did, when it became a state in 1948, and even the Arab Nations agreed to this. When Rome destroyed Israel they destroyed the Temple and scattered the Jews from one end of the earth to the other, and renamed it Palestine, and G-D also told them they would be scattered because of their disobedience to him, but then he said he would restore Israel and it would bloom as a rose in the desert, and it has, until the Jews moved back it was a desolate place for centuries, no matter who moved in. And also the bible says they are not supposed to devide the land of Israel, and will get in touble with G-D for doing so.

So, Yussef, where do you get off trashing a religion or ethnic group and yet scream and bellow and kill people for "insulting Islam?"
How come it is fine for you to insult Americans and Jews, and not fine for even well-spoken and well-considered criticisms of Islam or Islamic militants to be spoken?
And if you are not a Palestinian, how is it that you make it any of your business what goes on in Palestine? Funny you should mention genetics: Jews and Arabs have a very great deal in common, genetically and linguistically. Not that either Jews and Arabs are happy with that fact...

The Jews are an ethnic group from Abraham, who was called out for Ur, of the Chaldeans, which is Northern Iraq. God made them His people. Zionists are the people of God. Zion is Israel. Judaism is the religious following of most Jews. As far as "Palestine" is concerned,
they are the ones who are gonna move on out the hood, because Israel was established 4,000 years ago. "Palestine" was a roman name put on the region about 620 AD to disenfranchise the Jews of their rightful place.

well first of all, the term jew, is not to be found in TheTorah. so this is not the right name for them. but they are referred to as TheHisNation. the proper word for them is the transliteration: yehoodah.
they cannot be called a race, because they are comprized of the multitude of many races that left egypt. but prior to this event, they were a family of Avraham through Yeetzak(and not issac). just as Eeslam(not islam), is the family of Avraham through Eeshmaeel. and are the half brothers and sisters of the yehoodah of Ysrael.
they have not always been true to TheG-D WHO is giving TheTorah just again today from Parashas Noach, to Parashas Beereeshees. but they have always returned to HaShem, once HaShem's anger at them has subsided. for their disbelief of HIM always giving TheTorah for our salvation, to the third and fourth same again Happening.
so they have always been involved in some religion. even when not being true to HaShem. which tends to get them sent into the captivity of other nations. from which they are again, in the return again today. and shall happen exactly the way TheG-D of TheTorah says. because about two thousands years ago. they apparently did another last straw, to tick off Their G-D again. which seems to be their general modus operando. is in their ability to actualy tick off TheG-D.
and their is enough room for them in Ysrael, if they re-establish the boardes of Ysrael, accprding to origional specification. and i do not think the world should be overly criticial of them. since your screw ups are not doing any better in TheEyes of G-D than TheYehoodah.

Religion and Politics must be separated in theory, but in the practice they are not.
Republicans are Protestants Pro-Israel.
The rest of the world is evil according to them
