I've done at least 5 home pregnancy tests at home on my first day of missed period and they all came back positive. Later when I visited my GP, the test done at my GP's office came back with a very light line. He wanted me to come back to his office a week later. I don't understand. Why is this happening? I believe I am expriancing all pregnancy symptoms. Also he told me that if I have my period during this week, then it means I m not pregnant. So Am I pregnant or not?!!?

In my opinion, I'd say you are... whether the line was faint or not, it showed up because a pregnancy hormone was detected - and more so with the 5 positive tests. I'd say you are, but do what the docor said and come back in a week.

This doesn't sound right at all. Number one, why would you take 5 at home tests? If the first one or two came back positive why would you take 3 more?
Number two, What do you mean the test at the GP office came back with a "light line"? I have never heard of a doctor using those kinds of tests, they usually just do a blood test. And if they did use a urine test as you say.. and they were unsure about the results... wouldn't they just give you a blood test to be sure about it?
Number three.. if you did start your period with in this week.. it does not mean that you are "not pregnant".. Some women actually have their periods through out their pregnancies..

I am currently 35 weeks pregnant. Get this... I went into the army earlier this year for Basic Training. Before you ship out they give you a series of physicals, including pregnancy tests. All of mine came back negative. I had taken 3 with them and 1 on my own, because I felt pregnant. After, I was shipped out with no proof of being pregnant, I get there and they finally give me a blood test. I guess it was the very last test to check, because I was suppose to start basic the next day. It came back positive and come to find out I was 9 wks pregnant. I asked the doc how come it didn't appear on the home pregnancy tests. He said it is because the hormone change your body goes through, sometimesit doesn't register. He said stressfull times and moodswings can trigger different results in your test. He said sometimes the only way to truly tell is to take the blood test. If I were you I would take a blood test.

Any at home pregnancy test will tell you that even a very faint line means that hcg was detected in your urine, meaning you are indeed pregnant. The tests at the doctors office are supposed to be more sensitive and that also gave you a faint positive. I would suggest you start the prenatal vitamins, which are available over the counter just in case. Better safe than sorry.

You probably are, but I recommend getting a pregnancy test done by your doctor with a blood test. If it's too soon in your pregnancy, it's harder to tell with the "stick" test.

I had my period also when I had my 1st pregnancy AND the lines on all the stick tests I did too were light.

Good luck!

Most pregnancy tests go off your estrogen levels the home pregnancy could have been wrong because if you have a lot of estogen in your system it will say you are pregnant when your are not. I would just go back to the doctor when he said to and wait and see. However it sounds to me like you are.

You are pregnant, HOWEVER, there is a chance that there is something wrong - a lot of times, an egg can implant and then, for whatever reason won't make it. I know it sounds horrible, but it's a good thing! Your boody knows when anything is wrong with the fertilized egg and will take care of things. It's this reason that most doctor's won't even see a pregnant woman until she makes it to 8 weeks.

i believe you are. The same happened with me. I took one pregnancy test and it came out positive. Then i took anotherone and it came out a little faint line. So it is ok don't worry you might not have enough pregnancy hormone to show a baby yet. good luck

You probably are. Those home pregnancy tests are very accurate. It's okay to wait a week or two, though, and then go back to your doctor.

yes...you're pregnant, even a faint line indicates that you are. I experienced the same thing with my GP, she asked me to come back in a week's time..but it was also cuz i had two miscarriages previously so she did not want me to feel disappointed a third time...but her doubts were unfounded.
