The person who asks the question usually knows what answer they want so they would rather go along with a badly argued, facile answer that broadly agrees with their viewpoint than a well argued, considered answer that thye don't agree with. Just like life, most people side with what they are comfortable with, not what is actually most wise.

(Please bear in mind that, like everyone else, I will choose the answer I am most comfortable with, but only if it is well argued in my case.)

I think there is a spectrum of questions ranging from those where there is a concrete right answer to those where one is asked for an opinion and the factors that lead one to this opinion. Yahoo Answers in this respect reflects life in the range of problems people face and the way people search for answers, sometimes glossing over the difficulties posed by good arguments they don't like. Having said that I think people do often have a desire to be genuinely informed on something that puzzles them or to have their inclinations informed by something they were not aware of.

What an irony. so im trying to figure out if i should agree or disagree with u. For most part in philosophy section different people will have different opinions which is natural. but if u ask question about some specific fact or a thing, u should not get different answers. In that case it is easy to pick best answer but not in questions regarding philosophy. i, myself have picked a best answer which totally argued the other side which kinda opened my eyes and showed me the other side. so if ur going for fact then go for best informed fact and if ur going for opinion then go for best described opinion

Good luck

I agree with everything that you've said. As a metaphor, Yahoo Answers is an ideal reflection of the nature of the human condition.

I see it all of the time. Drives me nuts. I completely understand that persons are excited or fearful and are searching for reassurrance, yet it somewhat is the only question that has not something to do with comments. in basic terms a attempt can enable you recognize!!! Then there are those questions the place people say, "I took a attempt that became into adverse, ought to I nonetheless be pregnant?" That to me is diverse, b/c they a minimum of took the time to flow get a freakin attempt and are purely nonetheless curious as i became into while that took place to me. (and confident i stopped up being pregnant) besides the undeniable fact that for people who say " i'm yearning meals, constipation, headache, my breast are greater.... yet I had intercourse final week, ought to I be pregnant?"... i think of i'm going to start up referring them back to the thousands of alternative questions that are precisely a similar and have been given the ideal same solutions. or maybe there could be somewhat line below the section the place you elect the class of your question that announces" in the adventure that your question is 'ought to I be pregnant', take a rattling attempt first!!!" Ha! Ha!

I have often thought of Yahoo! answers as being a ramification of humanity's collective unconcious. Triviality, humour, gentleness, desperation, sexuality, violence, compassion, love, anger, childishness, stupidity, blackness, creativity and spirituality and lots more are expressed on this site. It is a cybernetic photograph of us all.

i think it can give a one sided view of certain subjects as a lot of the answers are given by younger uninformed people with only an occasional mature viewpoint.

I think the only real use of this is to ask questions like "which brand of bread contains the most fibre?" and not questions like this "why do we love?". I think asking the latter type of question shows desperation.
