Put a sticker on your mailbox "No junk mail, please". Several of our neighbours have that.
Then sign up for the Mail Preference Service at http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/

Register with the Mail Preference Service
The MPS is there to make your choice known - so you get the mail you want and need.
Unwanted, unread Direct Mail has no place in anyone's home. And if you're not interested in receiving it, they will update their records for Direct Mail companies to see and adjust their lists as you request.
You can register at:
www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/mps_choosetype.html
Additionally you can also get stickers saying "NO junk Mail" but I'm not sure from where. Maybe from your local Council Environmental Services.
Good luck

Block the letter box ,the postman has to take the undelivered mail back to the sorting office. perhaps every one should write on the envelopes of your junk mail, return to sender, and put it in a mail box, either the post office will get fed up, or the sender will get fed up, meybe every body should do this as the Elvis song said return to sender. A good idea or what?I suppose it keeps the postman in a job though.

You can sign up to the mail preference service in a similar way to the phone prefence service.
Unfortunately it doesn't stop the direct mail that the Royal Mail deliver to addresses like "The Home Owner" etc.
,....shame on them.

Why? If you're leaving.......
Unless you have international mail redirect, if that's the case it'll stop after the time limit you specified, along with all the other post. Don't put your children's names on the redirect either. Get mail sent in your name.

mailing preference service http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/ can help with junk mail after a while but until then you should (for safety & priacy's sake) get your mail re-directed via royal mail!
You do not want the new residents filling in loan applications under your name etc;....
