If you were kept in a cage and handled by something 100 times bigger than yourself, you'd fill your pants too.

I am very much interested in your vibrating guinea pig. At what frequency does the animal vibrate is it a strong enough vibration to say shake Windows? could it be used to polish things for instance? Also did you know a group of guinea pigs is called a group? I mean how boring is that?
Anyway moving on. Yes its scared but that is normal. As it gets older and gets used to you the shaking will stop. The weird squeaking continues though like some sort of fluffy alien. Id suggest handling it a lot so it gets used to you. enjoy your guinea pig ad never let an Ecuadorian baby sit or it'll be kebab time! lol

I hope you have at least one other guinea pig, as they are social animals and not happy without their own kind. In which case, I suggest you always hold the baby and another GP that she is familiar with at the same time, it will be reassuring for her to have a companion. Babies always huddle together for mutual reassurance when they feel anxious. In time she will become more comfortable with being handled on her own. If you only have one guinea pig, shame on the pet shop that sold it to you, they should not do that. Go and get another baby girl guinea pig right away. Having two will be much better for them, and more fun for you.

Okay, I have 2 guinea pigs, at first they were real scared of me too, yes, not picking them up is not a good idea because they don't know you as well, so what I do is for about a couple weeks or so just be around them a lot and walk around their cage and hang around them, try your best to pet them but not if they run because that could put them in a very scary position, first of all they need to get used to their new surroundings and their new people. They don't know you yet, try giving them fresh vegetables by hand, then they think of you as giving them treats, they know you are nice and friendly caring person taking care of them, when you see them in the morning, talk to them in a sweet, soft babyish voice saying "good morning," and talk to them a lot as often as possible in this babyish voice, they like hearing it since the human voice is a little controlling and overpowering to the little creatures. eventually try petting them and picking them up, but maybe you are hurting them on accident when you try to pick them up or pet them, be gentle, they are very fragile creatures. Make sure you know everything about them, how to pick them up, what to feed them, all that stuff, all techniques, picking them up is very important. Some guinea pigs are just scared, they might just be shy, once they warm up after trying a few of my suggestions, then attempt to further get to know them! Hope I helped!

My guinea pig used to do that shaking and squeaking thing when he was excited. Especially in the winter when he lived in the kitchen and someone would open the fridge door he'd go mad!!
He obviously loves you.

It is normal. A lot of animals take time getting used to humans. You are bigger and a potential enemy. All animals are different as far as their personality and behaviour is concerned. Most animals also have a very keen sense; and are very sensitive; to smell, touch etc. It will take time to get used to handling and it is young like you said, so it will have much to learn, as to what is an enemy and what is not. You wouldnt want your young guinea pig getting cosy with an aggressive dog would you! You might want to go easy on it and not be picking it up so much now. The reaction of shows its scared. hopefully with time it will get used to you.

Don't try and pick her up, just go down to her level and try and stroke her find a spot where she likes being stroked. Not the same thing but my rabbit loves having her head stroked, she will close her eyes whilst I am doing this and grind her teeth (apparently a sign of happiness).
You have to give her time to trust you, give her some food in one hand and stroke her with the other, Over time she will trust you and stop the shivering.

vibrating is good. she's still a baby and still getting used to her new family and her new momma. yeah. it's normal. mine did the same thing too. oh wait. mine loved me from the beginning. it was my sister's pig that was scared of her. Until she go used to her and now she doesn't squeal has loud. now she is getting those happy squeaks. so basically it's their normal behavior.

Initially she is going to be frightened of you. Try to handle her at least once a day and hand feed her vegies at the same time. It just takes time for her to build up the trust with you.
She'll soon be happy as larry, the only problem will be that she'll squeak everytime she sees you as she'll think you've got goodies for her.
Have fun.
