My period is three weeks late and I am sick to my stomach, have mild cramping on my left side, and slightly tender breasts.

I know it seems like a no brainer that I should just take a test. But, I've been trying to conceive for 3 years now. I have very irregular cycles and have an appointment next week with a fertility specialist. We've seen him once but he he's just done testing so far...no meds.

I have taken more negative pregnancy tests then I can count and I get upset and discouraged everytime. Should I put myself through it again when it is probably just PMS again? Help!

All the symthoms you have described can be caused by infertility problems as well as pregnancy or just plain out PMS. If you are concerned for your health I would take the test with the assumption of it being negative, therefore if it's positive it will be a surprise. I have polisistic ovaries and I am completely irregular in all shapes and forms! I know that cramps on one side can also be a symthom of a tubal pregnancy or cyst in the ovaries. Be very careful ok. If pain is severe and sometimes can be accompanied by fever, go see your doctor.

If you are truly worried about the test discouraging you, then fine, don't take it, but watch for severe pain and discomfort or fever.

You may be fine, I gave you worse case scenario, you might just be having painful PMS.

Good luck to you, I really hope you get luck at the fertility specialist.

I would take the test but there not always 100%. I would go see a gynocolgist as well. May be stress making your period late as well. You may have other problems from your pains as well. When you see your fertility specialist get them to check into your painas well if they do that. If not make an appt to see your Gyno.

3 weeks is a lot late though (unless that is normal for you). I think you should take a test. Be ready for any kind of result. Have no expectation so you won't be disappointed (I know, easier said than done). But I'd have to know or it would drive me nuts.

you should. if it is negative, i would see your doctor or obgyn for it could be another problem, such as endometriosis or systs on your ovaries. that may explain some of the pains.if it persists, i would definately see a doctor other than a fertility specialist. good luck.

its achieveable, some people dont discover out they are pregnant till a minimum of 6 weeks long previous it incredibly is regularly while youre approximately 2 weeks late. retest in some days if its nonetheless unfavorable then pass on your ordinary practitioner and get a blood try completed.
