My first postpartum cycle was 17 (yes 17!) days long! Scared the heck out of me. It was also very heavy and yucky, but the doctor assured me I was fine. The next cycle was normal though about 12 days later than usual, and this last one came right on schedule.

You'll be fine :-)

Congrats on your little one!

Like everyone else says, it depends on the individual. I just had a baby 12 weeks ago and from everything I read, I wasn't supposed to get my period for a year or more (I'm breastfeeding). Then, on Friday, lo and behold! It seems much different from before I had the baby - a lot heavier too. That's to be expected. My doctor said to call after a couple months if my body doesn't get back into it's own routine.

First of all congradulations. Everyones different when t comes to that. Mine only lasted 4 days. First 2 were heavy, last 2 were light. I also had a c-section with the twins and I didn't breastfeed either. Mine haven't changed much and it has been almost 21 months.

The first period you have after childbirth is always weird. The good news is they almost always get better from there. Pain and heavy menstrual flow are also extremely common after giving birth, simply because your body isn't accustomed to ovulating and menstruating regularly, so your initial period may be tougher on your system.

Congraulations anyway and enjoy!!!

Everybody is different. Your body changes after you have a baby so you may find that after the baby, what was once normal, isn't normal anymore. For instance, once I had my daughter, I stopped getting menstrual cramps and my breasts didn't get as tender as they used to. My daughter is 8 years old now and just within the past year, I've been feeling that tenderness in my breasts again when I get my period. So, what was once normal for you, may not be normal again.

I can't answer for you personally seeing as all cases are different but I can say that after I had children my periods weren't quite as long, heavy or painful as they once were.

My first period was awful. After the first one; it should become normal.
