The basis of Leftist politics is big government. I believe the Left is the product of America's public schools, that are of course supported and managed by the government. now not all public school students are ignorant or Leftist, and its not neccessarily anyone's fault if they can afford private shools, but everyone should admit that public schools in America are sadly, a joke. Is it any wonder? Can the US government teach kids? wouldnt it better if schools were privitized and ranked, instead of letting the government teach our kids, the way the Left would like?

Public schools run the spectrum quality wise. Sure they could be improved in many areas but there are also some very high quality school systems.
Privatizing is not the answer. Privatizing will lead to corporate and religious interference. Big business will start leveraging their influence by "donations" like in all other aspects of our society. Privatized schools will no longer have to abide by separation of church and state and will be able to teach creationism in science.

I personally do not believe that the government has anything to do with what is taught in schools....sadly I feel it is the schools and the teachers (and students) themselves are to blame for creating the results. Look at the curriculum that is taught even at University levels...conspiracy theory about 9/11? If the Government was as Fascist as the Libs claim, wouldn't they pull all Federal funding from such schools?
They can teach about the qur'an, but not about the Bible? (I personally do not think either should be taught)
Why is that? Way too PC!!! And the students now eat this crap up!!

Well, public or not, the schools would still need to accommodate all the children - the poor, the handicapped, the learning disabled, etc.
Whether funded by taxes directly, through vouchers, or through some other payment system, they would still need to be generally funded. There should also be some level of minimum learning competency based on standardized testing that is reached at each level.
I dislike teacher unions, mainly because of the security it gives some very incompetent teachers and because of the control it has over the school.
There is also the myriad issues with teacher colleges and teacher certification.
There is quite a number of issues with public schooling that need to be addressed.

My highly competitive grandchildren attended a large public high school and excelled in everything, all near top of their classes scholastically, class presidents, best in sports, the whole bit.
Being who they are, they will do fine, but they have found that the public high school did a poor job of teaching them and preparing them for college. Teachers were poor when they were even there, and they didn't teach from the assigned books. Discipline was lousy and my granddaughter even found another girl doing a Monica on the whole football team on the school bus, and the driver didn't do anything about it.

Stupid, Stupi, stupid. My guess is that you are wealthy, private schooled all the way up, and sitting on your butt right now. For all of the rest of us the government does not teach kids, teachers teach kids. Lets sit on this a while and contemplate its meaning. Maybe you can use some of that wonderfull educaiton to grow a brain.
