They got divorced. Well, some say it was because Jessica was getting more and more famous while Nick was not. And he got jealous and stuff. Some say it was because of money. Jessica was making more money. There were some who said Nick cheated on Jessica with the girlfriend of a friend of his or something. So the couple just kinda stopped being seen in public events together.
By the way, this was like last year.

Nick and Jessica had complained about the invasion of privacy after the second season of The Newlyweds well what do you expect with a reality show when you're putting every angle of your private life for public spectacle. They wouldnt say the reason why the divorce happened, but I think a few insiders can say it had mainly to do with Jessica's father Joe always interfering in his daughter's relationship with her husband.

I read in an article the stress came soon after the mtv cameras were always around, like 24-7. Both nick and jessica were under tons of stress, and it didn't help that jessica's daddy never knew when to butt out of the twos business, nick also stated he never had a chance to really be alone with his wife. I don't think that they really gave marriage a fair chance!!!

Supposedly it is because Jessica cheated. She waited till they were married to have sex, and when it dawned on her that Nick would be the first and last person she would ever get to have sex with, she cheated. He found out.
Now she is a **** who gets used and trashed by other celeb males (Adam Levine from Maroon 5, John Mayer, Dane Cook) and he has a successful carreer singing songs about how he really actually loved her dumb butt and she messed his life up and is on the rebound with MTV's Vanessa Miniilo (dont know how to spell her last name, sorry).

Yes, millions of American morons spent their lives watching Nick and Jessica's instead of living their own. Subsequently, they (Nick and Jessica) got divorces while America moved on and is looking for other media stars to fixate on.

Lots of speculation but they haven't confirmed any scandalous reason.
From a marriage and relationship point of view it might have been an idea to cancel the show after one season - how anyone can live under that constant scrutiny is beyond me.

There's not much of a show if they are no longer together. It probably had something to do with publicizing their relationship on national television. Same thing happened to Carmen Electra/Dave Navarro and Travis Barker/Shanna.
