You need to watch a movie called Beyond the Mat. This will go through why people call wrestling fake. Matches and outcomes are predetermined by bookers and producers and the script writers. A lot of material is ad-lib but it's all driven to a specific outcome and result. The moves and the impacts are real, but they go to school to pull these things off. It's like stunt school. You are taught to fall and to "sell". The selling of an injury is key. If you can do it well and make people believe you are hurt, you are an asset to the company. There is a lot of selling on the moves, a lot of it is over the top, but every once in awhile you can tell they aren't selling and someone is really hurt. That's when it gets real.

The WWE is Sports Entertainment. That's what they call themselves. They do not call their stars "wrestlers". They call them "Superstars" (this is not just marketing, the WWE actively decided to make this change so that they were not confused with real wrestlers). The events are pre-scripted, the moves are not fake but "embelished". The WWE does not claim otherwise. It is still very athletic, and its a lot of fun, but it isn't a sport.

It's kind of like asking "Why are the movies fake?" They aren't really "fake", they're stories.

Now real wrestling, like that is done in the Olympics, isn't fake at all. It is a real sport that is thousands of years old.

Look, can we do away with the F word? Yes, the matches are predetermined. Yes, the spots are planned. Yes, the guys know what to do in the ring per instruction. One thing you idiots who toss around the F word don't realize is that the pain is REAL, and I personally dare anybody who calls wrestling fake to step into the ring with some of the guys I know. They'll show you just how fake it is, and send you home bruised and sore.

Pro wrestling is legit, the rest of the world is fake.

Seriously, it is better to say that professional wrestling is worked instead of saying it is fake.

More money is to be made by having it worked than if it were not worked. Imagine shelling out $40 for a pay-per view and each match lasting only 3 minutes. Instead of 3 hours, the show would only be about 45 minutes.

Way back when, the promoters realized that people would come back if it were worked and made exciting rather than having a boring legitimate match.

As far as saying it is only entertainment, so is all other professional sports. Sure they may have legitimate out comes, but the only purpose that pro football serves is to entertain the audience. It serves no other purpose than entertainment, and people making money off of the entertainment. Likewise for professional wrestling.

******Wrestling is real and fake. The matches are choreographed but they don't have a big chance to practice it in the ring. They still throw in some chops, which do hurt, and "punches" and kicks. The bumps are real, and some people won't believe it. Stone Cold broke his neck and still went on in the match. Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit messed up their necks. Even the divas get bumps. Trish has a missing knuckle!!! So the mic stuff and some of the match is fake. The blood and bumps are real.****

Almost everything in wrestling is fake besides the blood. How can someone get beat with a chair and fall ten feet to a wood table and be up the next monday night fighting again? C'mon. Everything in the ring is rehearsed before the match. In the years before they didn't rehearse the moves they thought of them right there in the ring and would whisper into other opponents ear to tell them how to act or what to do. When a wrestler supplexes another wrestler watch the one that is being supplexed how he bends his knees and jumps with the person that is supplexing him. I mean it is so obvious. The blood comes from little razor blades that wrestlers have in their tights or shorts that they take out and cut themselves before they get hit with a chair or something like that. All the wrestling companys out there are owned and operated by one person which i don't know who but since the WWF days and the WCW are under one company. Now it is WWE and Smackdown and TNA. But look at the wrestlers they are all from the same group before. They know who is going to win each and every match. The earphones in the referees ear tells them when to end the match. The referee will whisper to one of the wrestlers that audience is dying end the match and the match will end. Most main event, pay per view events the crowd favorite will usually win the matched. but during the shows before the large pay per view events the villain will win to it can draw a larger audience to pay and watch those pay per view events. I means things are pretty obvious. Look at the name World Wrestling " ENTERTAINMENT"...The wrestling industry came out and admitted it openly that it is purely entertainment. Even hulk hogan admitted to that many years ago. Fake wrestling and soap opera that makes you want to watch week after week. Don't get me wrong it is good entertainment. Soap Opera for the males. It is kind of unmasculine if you only match 2-3 hours of guys asses and abs in your television screen so they throw in the eye candy type of girls that wear provacative clothing to further entertain us. Yeah that was long. Sorry for the words spelled incorrectly.

Think of it like this...

It's not fake. It's predetermined.

You don't fake picking up a 300 lb. man and throwing him to the ground.

It's rehearsed and practiced because if they went out and fought for real every week. The show would last about a month before they ran out of characters who could continue to fight because they would all be in the hospital recovering.

They pick those who drive ratings up by either being liked or hated and work up story lines for them to follow. Kind of like a soap opera.

At the same time, it still requires tremendous physicall ability. Which is why I don't call it fake. These men and women work their tails off for our entertainment. You may like it, you may hate it but it is what it is a predetermined story for your enjoyment.

wwe is fake. The superstars know who will win either before the match or during the match. Its all a mens soap opera but it is still entertaining. The moves arent all fake. And the blood is real, superstars cut themselfs with a little blade in their finger. The wwe is still a great show.
