Do you think the UK is slowly heading down the pan? It seems to me, young and foolish though I may be, that our nations are on a one-way trip to the boneyard- and we are being made in to a laughing-stock.

In my opinion (and I hasten to add I am no expert), we need to re-nationalise all our services such as rail and water, which are currently nationalised or belong to foreign interests. We need to make life here more appealing to UK nationals and less appealing to unskilled immigrants, as, like it or not, it seems obvious half of our nations' problems stem from mass immigration of unskilled, unwilling foreigners.

In some respects we need to step back forty years to put right what has gone wrong...how many British car companies are there left? Forty years ago there were more than you could name. How many of our footballers are British?

Does anyone else agree with this line of thought? I do not mean to offend anyone but I'd like to hear from you!

Basically we need to restore our national identity (both as seperate nations and as the UK). Note I do not say ALL immigration is in any way bad, so please do not brand me a racist.

Well I agree with you. The young are foolish though I must say the adults are just as bad. It terrible what outside people think of the English. I am not to up to date with the services such as rail and water. I do say that immigrants are not the problem, that they are hard working compared to the English, who are lazy. I have worked with many immigrants and they are workers. Alot of the services here are so much better then some countries and the English are more Lucky then they think. English are spoiled, and we have alot to be thankful first. Go to some countries then you would be grateful. That's my thought. Hope I have not offend anyone either.

I completely agree with you. They should re-nationalise all public services. The only problem then would be that the government would be running them!

I personally think they should bring back national service and proper apprentiships, too. If you're not academic, you should be apprenticed to someone and learn a trade. If you refuse to do that, you should have to do two years of national service. It would solve the problems of young people leaving school with nothing and having nothing to do!

I do agree partly with what you are saying but you have to ask yourself why these nationals are being allowed to enter our country in the first place. There are so many jobs in this country that are not being filled by UK workers so the only other option is to bring in labour from overseas. That and also the high number of UK born people who emigrate to other countries is also very high and so the government needs to fill the country back up again! Remember that it is not just a high number of immigrants coming to the UK - a huge amount of UK residents are actually emigrating as they are unhappy with life here. We have a big shortage of workers within certain trades and we need immigrants to raise the population.

I have absolutely no problem at all with people coming here from abroad to work in jobs that the UK public will not do - what I do have a problem with are people who emigrate here with no intention of working, even if they are fully able to, and who sponge off benefits from the government.

Remember history repeats itself. What you are saying has been done before. For instance, Adolf Hitler did the same in the nineteen thirties by re-nationalising privately owned companies for the very reasons you mentioned. No point on dwelling on what was done in the name of National Socialism thereafter...

i agree wholeheartedly, also being young (17 to be precise), i believe that the morals of the British people are sliding to conform with what is acceptable of other cultures. We are failing to recognise that we ourselves are a culture too. multiculturalism is great and integration is good too, but we are a culture and integration includes tolerance from other cultures. Britain is failing to retain it's roots and traditions, i understand that tradition makes room for change, but come on, have some pride!

Well, if you're as young as you say, you've certainly done some thinking, and I must admit I agree with 98% of it.
Your only problem is, as I think somebody has already mentioned, the PC brigade - not to mention the lot who think they own the world whose collective title begins with M - I told you not to mention them....but seriously, good thinking.
Just on one of your points - the car industry - they did themselves out of the job because the workers got so greedy that they sh8t in their own nests!

Yes, I agree with you, Britain does not belong to the Brits anymore, immigrants have more rights than we do and we can't even fly our flag in case we offend them, come on, we are so the laughing stock and people are getting fed up of it.

I agree with you totally. we've almost totally lost our identity. What has Great Britain got left to be proud of? I think its time to bring back the traditional British values that gave us pride and identity.

I am English Republican. I feel that it would be better to put GB into the history book and have three independent republics!

You know, when the British were out and about colonizing the world, I'm sure the nationals of those countries felt the same way; they wanted you to leave
