dreams are needed to stay sane. Without them, we would go crazy, hallucinate, and probably die. During our lives, our subconscious is unable to say what is has in storage, it can be something small like something that scared you as a child, or a time a friend got angry with you.

nightmares are a reflection of fears. Psycholocially, a single person may never uncover everything in the back of their mind, but we have to try. I used to have nightmares as a kid, but after mapping out all my problems, I have never had a nightmare in 10 years and I am 23.

mediate on the events of your life, fix all problems, and see what happens. It could also just be random thoughts, so it may not have a reason behind it, it depend on the dream. Write down your dreams when you wake up, the more you write the more you will recall, after a while you will be able to recall the dreams of all that night, and soon, you will be able to control them, it really works.

Years ago, Freud wrote a book entitled "On Dreams" you might find that in your local library.

I've always thought that we have nightmares for any number of reasons: something we ate, something that happened to us the day before or even back some length of time...or maybe to help us see that no matter how bad today is, it's not as bad as the nightmare we had last night!

I think this is a subconscious mind speaking to us about where we are at, what we need and what is happening. It's the brain's way of housekeeping!
The content of nightmares is not always easily understood but most times we can relate them to what is happening in our lives.
All nightmares and recurring dreams provide a valuable service to the dreamer. If we block them we are likely missing their immediate benefit; or if we remember but ignore them, then we may be missing the vital message that they are trying to bring to us about life.
Scientists have been and are still trying to come to grips with why we have them and that answer to me seems to be very far away.

I don't know why but it certainly reminds us that some of the scariest things are in our own heads!
