Plants absorb mostly light in the red and blue range. Blue is more for the growing/leafing stage and red for the flowering stage. Plants usually need both, but I would go with the blue if I had to pick.

Check out artificial lights for plants to help you figure out the spectrum.

a majority of plants will glean only two colors from the spectrum.. those are red and blue..
red is for growth, and blue is for budding and flowering..

red saran wrap would be optimum for growth, if you must use some kind of filter, but your best bet is just to use natural light from the sun..
