My daughter and I struggled a bit with breastfeeding when she was first born... I had dry, cracked, and occasionally bleeding nipples. Then the skin got tougher and I got better at breastfeeding. Now it's 8 months later and they've started to crack and bleed again! My daughter doesn't have teeth and she isn't biting me. Has this happened to any other breastfeeding moms? What treatment do you recommend?

Does she have thrush? White looking stuff in her mouth, that could be dring out your nipples again. Good Luck

The baby isn't sucking properly. Make sure the baby takes all of the nipple and some of the areola as well. That will also prevent soreness. You need to be sure and completely let your boobs dry before putting your bra or clothes back on otherwise you will cause the friction and irritation. Between feedings add a light layer of vaseline all around the nipple and areola's making sure to wipe off before nursing again. Let your boobs air out as much as possible - not bound up.

It's normal shortly after delivery for your breast to fill up with breast milk. With the milk filling the breast, it cause the breasts to expand making the nipples dry, cracked, and at times bleed. In between breast feeding, it may help to use some type of balming that is safe for you and baby too. Good Luck and congratulations on the new addition to your family.

Start out by keeping Lansinoh on your nipples. This will help with healing.

Check her latch. Has she been introduced to anything new like solid foods, new sippy cup, has she had signs of teething? Any of those could affect her latch. Watch carefully that she is latching on properly.

Is she taking enough of your nipple into her mouth when she feeds? If she isn't it will produce cracked bleeding nipples. Try rubbing lanolin into your nipples after every feeding. You can find it at most drug stores.

Has her latch changed? I know my dd tried to change her latch around that point and it really hurt. Also, right after she started getting teeth.

Anyways, try using some Lanolin. Put it on after every feeding to help heal them.

Good luck!

Sounds painful, have you tried lotion? If not, I recommend (I think it's called) Udder Butter. xP It sounds funny, but it's great stuff.
