Get yourself Mac the Ripper. Does a nice job.

Yes and yes. You have to download an application called MacTheRipper in order to copy write-protected DVDs. Be warned though, you can only LEGALLY copy write-protected DVDs that you OWN. Any DVDs that you DO NOT own is illegal to copy them. Also, when you do get the MacBook, let me know because I have the latest version of MacTheRipper that runs on Intel Macs and it was hard to find so I can send it to you if you would like. Good luck!

PS...It only takes about an hour to copy a DVD and a half hour to Rip it with MacTheRipper. It does not take all night.

no, buy an external one (or, for that matter, an internal full size one and enclosure, from newegg or tiger).

its cheaper and much faster

It's good to have, but it's slooooow. Plan to do your burning overnight. You can burn any DVD as far as I know.
