I recently found out that I'm addicted to books on tape/CD (and they are a great way to stay awake on the ride home!). I need suggestions on excellent authors and character series on CD I can check out at my local library. I tried self help and satire, but it seems like mystery/thrillers keep my attention best. Thanks to all for your answers in advance!

sure, somewhat at the same time as i'm taking lengthy journeys in my motor vehicle. I only drove to North Carolina from Cleveland about a month in the past - i purchased an audio e book of 'To Kill A Mockingbird' narrated through Sissy Spacek. It somewhat made the vacation lots extra exciting. i imagine it is also relaxing to hearken to a sturdy actor's interpretation of the textual content and be conscious the diverse characters they convey about employing only their voice. i have heard that the Harry Potter audio books with Jim Dale are meant to be somewhat nicely done - I heard him on the Diane Rehm instruct those days and he changed into outstanding.

I would recommend the Rebus series by Ian Rankin. They are told in a very sparse style, and are amusing, gritty and very very gripping! Just watch you don't miss your stop because you're so engrossed!
Also, I'm not sure if Lawrence Block's Matt Scudder series is available in talking book form, but they are wonderful books, and would keep you well entertained.

check availibility, but my picks would be Raymond Chandler, James Ellroy, Andrew Vachss and Lawrence Block in mystery/detection, and John LeCarre in thrillers.
