Ok to start with, I KNOW while your pregnant it is not the time to try to lose weight. and also, let me tell you that I am 26 years old, and I have always been in good shape, and worked out. kept my weight down, and was very thin. Now that I am 5 months pregnant, I have not worked out at all....so I notice that I am getting a little more flabby and such. I have energy, I just dont work out. Not sure why. Anyways....I have gained a total of 6 lbs in the 5 months. I think that is good. I know the weight is coming. but apparently others see that I have put those 5 lbs on in my face or something. I have been told "your getting really hefty..you better stop that eatin" my appetite has not changed....and if its only 5 lbs why would they say that to me? it's not jealousy she is a 65 year old woman!!! my question to you all is? what can I do, to keep the rest of my body in shape during this time? I dont want to work out like I used too...I used to lift and all that.....and I walk each night..

You are kidding, right? 6 pounds? Unbelievable. I gained 60, 60, and 68 with my three kids! Not that I am recommending that, but I can't even imagine only gaining 6 pounds at this point! I believe the recommendation is 2-3 pounds per month. You should gain approx 25-35 pounds during your pregnancy to have the healthiest possible baby. 1 pound a month is not enough. So, don't listen to what these people are saying- you better cut back, stop your eating? That is just crazy! That women's age has nothing to do with, 65 or not, that is a dig at you. She is trying to make you feel bad about yourself for some reason. What you are eating IS just as important as how much. Make sure you get plenty of protien, carbs, and take your pre-natal vitamins every day. Walking or about any low impact activity is generally fine- if you're unsure, ask your doc.

If you're walking every night that's all you need to do right now. Do you look "hefty" to yourself? Probably not. This lady just knows that you are pregnant & far enough along to start showing it so she's making unintentional hurtful comments. Older people tend to do this. Where as younger people like your same age friends are probably telling you you look great, right? Don't worry about your body right now. There's plenty of time for that later. Just concentrate on you & your baby. If you're already use to excercising, I'm sure you will lose all or most of your baby weight after the birth. Just remember that it took you 9 months to gain the weight so give it that long to lose as well.

It sounds like your retaining water. If that is the case, the weight wont come off until you have your baby. (Congrads by the way) I did that and it just got worse until I had my baby. I gained it in my face, arms, legs ankles and my feet were HUGE!! It's called Water Weight. I say, you have a reason to look big. Take advantage of it while you can and work really hard after you have your baby! Older ladies are old fashion, I definitely would NOT worry about her!! So long as your Hubby is fine with you that's all that matters. Give that baby what he/she needs! And keep drinking water! Good Luck!! :)

First off, five pounds is fine. Secondy, it is probably more swelling. Though sever swelling in face can be a problem, slight swelling especially if not very active is pretty normal. Plus, your body is storing fat, so being a little flabby is fine...if the weight gain is not exessive. You may not want to work out, but try a walking a little quicker pace or swimming. Both are easy, but will really help with keeping muscles toned.

Hi the doctors say that at least 25 to 30lbs is a safe weight gain. As long as you are staying active and still have some form of exercise in you daily routine, everything should be fine. also keep up the healthy eating, it is ok to splurge every now and again. You need to speak with your doctor and see what she/he has to say. Need to make sure what ever you do is safe for you and your baby.
Congrats and good luck

Really, I don't believe that there is a true way to stay in shape during pregnancy. I believe that having babies is designed for body abnormalities. A light walk is honostly the best way for functional maintenance during pregnancy. It doesn't sound like you will have any problems getting back in shape after your baby comes, especially for being in your mid 20's. Good Luck and congratulations on your soon to be new addition to your family.

I know how it feels to be called hefty while you are preg. I was 105 before I got preg. can't say I was in the best shape because I NEVER worked out! LOL Although I am now 18 weeks I am up to 112 yet I think I still look good to be preg! Hang in there hun when you have the baby you CAN get back in shape sometimes when we are preg. and people say STUPID remarks like that makes our hormones JUMP! BEST WISHES!

you're going to look like you've "gained weight" when you're pregnant! Who cares if you look hefty or not? To hell with those people who say you should lay off eating. My god woman, you're eating for two! You're supposed to gain weight! Do what's right for you and your baby. As long as you are eating right and gaining weight moderately, don't worry about it! Walk a little each day to make yourself feel good, but by all means, do it for yourself and your little one inside you, NOT for anyone else!

Its water retention in your face. You knew you were going to gain weight when you got pregnant, right? You really need to stop being so concerned about how you look and make sure you are properly nourishing your baby. I know an anorexic who didn't eat right during her pregnancy and her teeth fell out; The baby will get its nourishment from your body any way it can. 5 lbs is NOTHING! You need to eat right and stop tripping out on your weight, worry about losing it AFTER you have the baby.

Walk, lift light weights (with doctors permission), light yoga..
Most women in an average pregnancy gain anywhere from 10-35 pounds. I wouldnt worry how much you gain because depending if you breastfeed or not your gonna drop that weight like a bad habit. Good luck to you!
