The B.S degree will probably have more science and math requirements. The B.A degree will usually have more humanities, cultural, arts, and foriengn laugauge requirements.

I have a B.A. in Sociology/Anthropology, and my degree was more in the humanities/arts & sciences track than the technical aspect. My university did not offer a B.S. in Sociology, but if I were to guess, I would say the B.S. would probably make you take more statistics classes, etc. I had to take classes in data procedures (such as how to conduct surveys, do research on sociological findings) but my B.A. degree was more focused on race relations, criminology, etc. I would guess the B.S. degree is the opposite.

Depends on the assignment of college. There's really no difference (one is not better than others). Some majors are on the fringe of whether it's an art or science (like Architecture - part art, part engineering), so the college will choose whether to issue degrees in Architecture as BS or BA.

The same applies in Sociology.

Sociology basically belongs to social-sciences but some consider it also as part of arts. Other than this distinction, there is apparently no difference in content of the subject, whether one does Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Sociology or Bachelor of Science (BS) in Sociology!

the BS, generally is more rigorous...would be for people wanting to go on to graduate work.
