I'm beginning to think so. Has anyone else noticed this?

As a bi woman, I either learned or inherited my mom's taste for guys who look like they work, play, and eat hard, have a good amount of body hair, and are a bit goofy. I've mentioned Tony Stewart, the race car driver; I also like Larry the Cable Guy. And that's the type I look at in real life, too.

Gay and bi men tend not to share that taste, unless they're part of the "bear" subculture. And what the gay and bi men I know do look at, I wouldn't look at if it was 2 am and he was the last man in the bar!

Has anyone else noticed that tendency? Have you seen something different? And what do y'all like?

I ask in "Other--Cultures and Groups" to get straight responses, too.

I agree. Strangely enough, things that I tend to be "into" or at least be willing to overlook (body hair, lack of fashion sense, sports fanaticism) are the same things my gay friends find are complete turn offs.

Certain things my gay friends tend to be "into": (shaved bodies, well groomed eyebrows, diva-personalities) I find to be turn-offs.

It could just be that those things tend to signal to us that the man is straight or the man is gay, and we respond accordingly.

Of course - these are just tendencies that I've observed. I know many exceptions to the rule on both sides (for example, my best girlfriend - almost every guy she finds herself attracted to ends up being gay - maybe the fact that she was raised with all sisters has something to do with that).

Everyone can see that more male comedians make it farther than the female ones. I think that if a woman went up on a stage and tried to say half the things that Dane Cook says, society would probably look down upon her. They'd say that she's scandalous and that she was raised wrong and yada yada. It's only because from wayyy back women were supposed to be prim and proper and they had to keep their opinions to themselves. Time has taken the edge off of those notions, but it still lingers in the back of many peoples' minds. Personally, what makes me laugh is the 'male' humour. I'm not really sure you'll get the answer you're looking for. Its always either going to be from the perspective of a male or a female. And after reading the answers above mine, I realize that we opposite sexes REALLY do not understand each other. Alot of females have the same humour as you, I suppose you just say it all more freely.

I would say that my taste in men is the same as straight women in the regards that I'm not attracted to feminine looking men. I don't know too many women that are. Where my taste in men differ is that I prefer bisexual men. Most of the women I know, including the bisexual ones, won't date a bisexual man. I guess I'm more attracted to a guy for his personality than his looks because it's sometimes difficult to tell if a guy is bisexual. I usually guess and based on what I've seen in bisexual men, my guess is often times right.

I don't know how close my tastes come to another but in my fantasy I'm sandwiched between Tony Jaa (martial arts actor)and Will Demps (Giants).. Darren Sharper (Minn) and Beyonce (singer) are sitting off to the side keeping each other company.. and of course, we're all bi.. again, in my fantasy. ;-)

I don't thinks os either. If having a gay friend that is attracted to thug natured kind of guys and I have the same attraction then I believe attraction is in the eyes of the beholder. Did that make sense?

they do have different tastes. Im so glad. Homosexual men may search for looks/appeal and for sincere friendship. Most women have some other agenda, which I dont understand. Yes, they are looking for different qualities.

I would think attraction is attraction. I'm straigh but I am physically attracted to my bi friend . Personality though definetly not attracted to him. I would think it's the same for gay/bi/lesbian people.

i don't think so. and i don't think sexual orientation has anything, if at all, to do with it. it's a matter of personal taste, sprinkled with factors like family (ur mom), or the place where you live, work, and play.
