i personally would try a field as it can be a bit dangerous on the road

You can play anywere you like, in the park, on the beach etc.
Unfortunately you may have to play it by yourself in Devon.
Why not play rugby instead, lots of teams in Devon and you can invariably get a good pint ( or seven ) afterwards.
