Most internet dating services charge its customers anywhere from $30 to $50 a month. I'm currently a member of a 100% free service, and I don't get a single e-mail in my inbox (except from ONE person, with whom things just didn't work out).

Not that I can't afford it, but why should I pay someone for the POSSIBILITY of meeting the love of my life that is just as improbable as all other walks of life I've taken? What would I be paying for? Why would I be paying them for their services without a garuntee of results or product?

When you pay for a service you get in touch with people with jobs (they can afford the service) plus you get to filter according to your wants and interests. For instance, if you want your dates to have a certain level of education and/or a particular religious affiliation, you can stipulate that and only those with that level of ed. will be included in your search. Some services match for you, and others simply provide access to their membership: the membership is made up of other singles also looking for love and relationships, so your chances of finding someone with your same goals is better than the coffee shop of bar, e.g. (they may already be involved, not interested in dating, etc. whereas those in the dating service are looking, just as you are).

I think that your poor experience with the free service would be motivation to try the paid service. No guarantees, though. There never are when it comes to love and relationships.

All the best to you.

It's the comfort level that allows the success of online dating. You're in your home, somewhere you're very comfortable, so in essence you're paying for the rapport that would otherwise be needed to get to know a person on the level without all the initial uncomfort. Perhaps if one found a way to easily soothe a potential mate this service would be unnecessary completely, other than conversing with those in far off places. Go to places you enjoy doing things at, so you know you'll be women with the same interests as you. To answer your question, the money is going to the makers to make them rich. Simple. They're capitalizing. They're entrepreneurs. It's their sworn duty to maximize profit margin. That's what they do. They don't care how or why for the most part, although they find they get a better response from the public when they do ethical business work, thusforth encouraging them to do it more in the future.

Just, continue with what you are doing and stay with the wholesome of freedom. Do not let this one guy (email address) freak you out. As others said, its worthless; it's so not worth wasting your life over ;)

Don't ever pay for it, not worth it. Use several of the free ones and you'll be just as well off.
