Let me say, no, the deer hit me when he was running out on the road, totally demolishing our car. Where we live, we have to keep an eye out for the side of the road especially this time of year when the deer are mating. They do crazy things. The doe is sent out before the buck so when you see a doe you know a buck is close behind or even a herd of deer so be careful. We were quite fortunate in not being in my convertible when the eight point buck ran out for his antlers would have most likely gone through the top and injured or killed my husband. I love deer but they are so prevelant that it is nothing to see them in our backyard and we are in a CITY!

I was in the car with someone when he hit a deer. We were driving on a regular road, not through any park or anything, when someone in the car pointed out a deer to our right. We all looked to the right, exclaiming, "oh, a deer!" when BAM, we ran right into another deer that was standing in the middle of the road. The deer was fine, but our windshield was trashed.

No, I never did. But I hit a dog once, when he just darted out into the street, one night on my way to work. You know, I felt so cold and I was trembling. Then I started crying, because I thought I killed it. But I heard it yelping and limping away with pain. I kept on crying and actually felt its pain. I got out of the car and tried to locate that dog. But I couldn't . I kept on shaking and was unable to continue on my way. I cried all the way home. It felt like I run over some human being with the impact. That's why I couldn't understand how somebody could leave the scene of any hit -and run -accidents.. It has to take some nerves of steel. Thereafter whenever,I passed that same route, I literally crawl. Bad memories come back to haunt me and I felt tearful as there's a bitter taste in my mouth.
Usually, I post my reply before I read the other answers. I just read some of the replies, majority were more concerned with the possible damage to their cars, without giving a thought to the welfare of the deer. How cruel and inconsiderate. I guess I won't ever qualify to work in a slaughterhouse.

Nope. But I've hit a full grown moose (about 2,500 lbs) going 50 mph...and lived to tell about it. The car was totaled, the moose was killed, (it smashed through the windshield and miraculously bounced off...instead of continuing into the car and crushing me to death...which is what normally occurs), and I got out, walked away with minor cuts on my hands and face, moose hair and glass in my mouth, and the good fortune to recognize the fact that I should've been killed.
That kinda luck explains why I have never won the lottery...every bit of luck I possessed was used up during that accident....and believe me, I wouldn't have it any other way.

No, not a deer. But living in the land from down under, I have nearly hit a kangaroo. Man they can do so much damage.

No. I saw it in time and ran into the ditch instead. That gal wasn't moving for nobody or nothing. Scared the crap out of me. Still screwed up my car, but I think the deer would have done more damage.
