You're so right man, the West is crying over peanuts compared to what awful things on a much larger scale are happening all the time in other parts of the world. But as long as the central news agency of the world is Reuters, and everybody just buys the package (ever noticed that you get the same lame stories in every part of the world as headlines? Uruguay, USA, Russia, Germany - they just buy today's hottest stuff off the Reuters shelf, and independent reporting is basically for local throwaway-newspapers with supermarket specials on the front).

The vast majority of us weren't alive during Hiroshima and Nagasaki, nor the Holocaust. 9/11 is a major event in our lives because we lived through it. It's recent history. No, it does not mean that it was bigger than any other horrific event in our history, it's just we hear more about it now because it happened during the time of up-to-the-second news reports, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a much different society than in the 1940's and beyond.

Probably because it could have been avoided. Richard Clarke a white house counterterroism expert for two decades wrote a letter to Condi Rice in AUGUST 2001 about a major terrorist attack in New York City. Rice completely ignored it. And during 911 the white house took Clarke's leadership in organizing a defense around america because they thought future attacks would occur.

they fuss is because the government wants to drive it into our brains that it was a terroist attack , they are createing history and they want it to be remembered as a terroist attack ......they are driving it home ......it has become even more obvious that it was an inside job with the way they make sure it is beaten into our haeds , if you tell a lie often enough then people start to believe it , that is why is is so important to have it in our faces everyday ..........

Because Bush is squeezing everything he can out of 9/11 and therefore uses it over and over for the war on "terra". It won't go away because from it depends the entire GOP platform (faulty, but a platform nonetheless).
