My darling daughter went to a website that dumped a ton of junk onto my laptop from work I had home for the day. My anti virus and spy ware caught most of it, but there is still something lurking. I'm getting pop ups all of the time. Nothing offensive, just annoying. How can I identify the program lurking to delete it? Is it in my registry? Any ideas, short of reformatting my hard drive?

I sure hope I didn't really mess up, but I noticed that the majority of the popups had the tag - OuterInfo on it and so I googled "OuterInfo" and they had a website and they had an uninstall. So, holding my breath, I downloaded the Uninstaller and ran it, rebooted, and so far.....NO popups.
Thank you all for your very useful information, I truly thank you for the advice. I have printed out each and everyone of your coments and filed for future use. I cannot decide which is the best answer so I believe that I will put it to a vote. Thank you all again, you're good people.

Yes. Go here, follow the procedure and set up the programs the way she instructs. This should get rid of this adware program.

Try running another anti-spyware program. None of them are perfect and another may catch it. I use Ad-Aware with good luck. You can get several free ones at: www.download.com
reformat is the very last resort.
Would it be practicle for you to do a restore point?
