End of life decisions are very sensitive.
"The ongoing cycle of materialism within the culture will now, hopefully, be evident. The advocacy of of euthanasia seems to be related directly to cultural materialism, which assumes that the quality of life for the elderly, the terminally ill, and the vulnerable is very low. This conviction has driven many within the culture to pursue a new option, a new freedom, which at first glance, may appear to be compassionate, but in the final reckoning not only undermines compassion but also puts incredible pressure on the economically marginalized, the depressed, and those with low self-esteem to commit suicide. The pressure will be felt even though most people in this situation would reverse any such desire for suicide if their pain and depression were properly treated. The grand irony of this "new freedom" is that it is creating an UNNECESSARY, UNWANTED, pressure, if not DUTY to die. If I am not mistaken, death is the end of freedom. Hence, this new freedom is producing an unnecessary , unwanted duty to end freedom.
The harm of euthanasia is not limited to individuals. It is also producing three devastating cultural effects:
1. It accelerates the culture's obbsession with a view of freedom, love, ethics, self-worth, happiness, success, and suffering.
2. It undermines our ability to suffer well and therefore to grow from suffering.
3. It allows a radically false view of "compassion" to eclipse its true, profound meaning frounded in the highest dimensions of empathy.

If euthanasia is not consented to it is murder.
No one knows the future, to extinguish a life early is to assume you know what is better for a person's future. We all know that assumptions have room for error.
Also, dieing is part of life's experience to rob some one of this experience is rude. Often euthanasia is used to make those around the victim feel better because they assume the victim is suffering. But suffering sometimes leads to greater things.
I will try to think of more later....

depends on the situation..if you are talking about animals... an anti-euthanasia point of view would help...if you only consider that many animals are killed just because they don't have a shelter...if they are very ill and nothing could help...euthanasia could be a solution...
In Spain a movie was made about euthanasia "The sea inside" and it is about a man who wishes to be euthanized as he is paralyzed...but his will would defy the law...it is very touchy...if it is his desire to die...why be against? he wasn't crazy..in fact he was bright...oh well....from case to case you have to judge for yourself

f.y.i euthanasia means mercy killing. i guess my solid stand for it is that, Criminals go to jail if they kill people. euthanasia is killing an innocent life wihtout even the consent of the victim itself. So y do we have to do that and besides only God has the right to take lives.

Why would a patient request euthanasia or physician-assisted suicide (PAS)? To many the answer seems obvious—excruciating, unremitting pain:
As a result [of medical progress], Americans are living longer, and when they finally succumb to illness, lingering longer, either in great pain or in a stuporous, semi-comatose condition that results from the infusion of vast amounts of pain killing medications...The now recognized right to refuse or terminate treatment and the emergent right to receive medical assistance in hastening one's death are inevitable consequences of [these] changes.1
The statute that we propose is designed to provide the option of physician-assisted suicide to competent patients who either have a terminal illness or are suffering from relievable and unbearable distress, due to bodily illness, that is so great that they prefer death.2
The avoidance of severe physical pain (connected with death) would have to comprise an essential part of any successful claim [for a right to physician-assisted suicide].3
It seems that many people imagine the circumstances that might drive them to want to "end it all," and excruciating pain comes to mind. This picture of terminally ill patients writhing in uncontrolled or even uncontrollable pain requesting euthanasia or PAS has dominated all discussions about whether euthanasia or PAS is ethical and should be legalized.

"Also called mercy killing. the act of putting to death painlessly or allowing to die, as by withholding extreme medical measures, a person or animal suffering from an incurable, esp. a painful, disease or condition."
ok. having said this.... are you going to be the one to "withold" extreme medical measures to allow an Easy Death to someone? so, if ur daughter or son was in a huge car accident, and need extreme surgery, would u just allow the hospital to let her die, so that she would have a painless death, or would u want the doctor to do ANYTHING he or she can to save your child??? =T think about it..... it is very tricky and controversial, because no one really knows when they should stop treatment, or when to continue intensive surgery, for the best of the patient. this is extremely important in cases of Living Wills (remember that terry schaivo lady? the one who was comatose, and her family wanted her to be hooked up to a machine, and her husband wanter them to "pull the plug"?) as u can see, euthanasia turns into One Person's decision to pretty much let someone die, or to do all he or she can to try to keep that person alive, even though it may be painful.
usually animals are euthanized when they are old, or sick, or hurt, but think about humans. can u really say, "oh my grandma is pretty sick, she can't really walk. let's withhold her medication so she can die in her sleep peacefully". =T..... i don't think that is YOUR right to make that decision. if SHE decides not to take the medication, fine. but euthanize is to pretty much use your own discretion against someone else, u don't really euthanize yourself. that's called Suicide.

hope springs eternal from the human soul..
there is always hope for the better, in other words, and since we did not give that certain person life, and neither did he/she, no one can rightfully terminate life, despite the worst odds.
thats the argument.
now try: to kill oneself is the absolute expression of freedom. (well, actually, so is the will to live despite all odds.)
see? there are your points, go take your pick. best wishes.

Whether you are for or against Euthenasia its not for anyone else to tell you what to believe and why - this is something you have to come to your own conclusions - Everyone is entitled to their own opinions - mine dont agree with yours but I respect you for your opinion but it seems to me you are trying to encite some sort of argument or debate about it - you dont give your reasons for the way you feel so just based on your question it seems you are against Euthenasia but your not sure why.. do some homework on the subject - learn about it and form your own opinions dont ask others to give you reasons for your opinion. For me I agree to some extent with Euthenasia but then Im not sure I could go ahead with it if I was asked - however I wouldnt put anyone down or critisise them for doing it if for example a relative was in the final stages of cancer and was in so much pain they were always heavily doped up on morphine etc and had no quality of life left - all they were doing was living in pain and just waiting to die.
