I am a rock/metal lover! i play guitar and bass, but when ever a guy asks what music i like, they laugh when they hear my answer, (which is rock/metal) Why?!

to answer you question i wear a lot of black, All stars on my feet, like all the time!!! Jeans, skirts, T-shirt.. and NO pink!

I completely understand. I am exactly in the same position as you are. I play the drums and they ALWAYS react like: "You? Drums? A girl that plays drums????" while in fact I'm pretty damn good. Most people who don't believe girls don't like metal they don't like really metal themselves, that's why. They just say so to show off. Don't pay attention to them, grab you guitar/bass, do a solo, and leave them with their mouth open!

They are over reacting. Yes there is a minority of rock songs that do have Satanic lyrics but not all and I think it's sad that a whole genre of music is simply condemmed because of a few songs. Everyone has a right to self expression and music is a way to do that. why do people have to pick on other's music just because it doesn't confom to what they see as right. It's pathetic that they are picking on talented artists such as The Eagles and The Beatles- the Beatles are certainly not Satanic! They're searching for excuses to crush popular genres so everyone will be like them, rock music was and still is a form of rebellion, find faults with the most well known artists and songs- backward playing- and you have an excuse to stir up hate against that music. It really is stupid and to be honest getting a bit old, they were complaining about rock decades ago, can they not see that they aren't going to win?

From the guy's point of view, it is generally a shock because there are so few of you around. Most "Metal girls" I meet think that listening to The Deftones, Buckcherry, and Stone Sour makes them metal. I have only met two girls who knew and recognized Dimmu Borgir and Strapping Young Lad. That's metal. As for the instrument playing, that's awesome. I WISH I could play bass (only the coolest instrument ever), but I have no talent. So rock on, chin up, and horns held high Meg C, because if you’re Metal, that’s hot.

I'm not sure...but I guess most guys think that chick only listen to sappy "girly" music! But...they are wrong! I'm a metal girl. I do like a little of just about all kinds of music, but I prefer metal to anything else. Most people can tell though...cuz I wear metal tees and jeans all the damn time. Just wondering how you dress? Do you wear preppy clothes...or metal clothes? It's dumb...but clothes can say alot about a person too. But, anyways...rock on girl...keep on jammin' the guitar!! That's awesome! I play bass myself. I give you mad props. I know alot of guys that think chicks in metal bands are the greatest thing ever!! So, play your heart out...and don't give a **** what anyone else thinks!!! =)

I know! I've been into rock/metal since the 80s! I sing with a small local band (my bf plays rhythm and our buddy plays lead guitar), and we do rock songs. But I agree, people always seem surprised when I tell them I've been to over 100 rock concerts! Girls can rock, too!

I believe it, my wife is a rock singer, and shes the best. I play in the same band.
I guess some guys think women are too sweet. They're probably jealous if a woman knows more. I'm sure if you challenge some of them to a guitar contest they wouldnt be laughing.

I know exactly what you mean...... I too play guitar and I'm trying drums...A lot of guys freak out to and look at me like your kidding right.... But I'm like of coarse not!!!
I think the only reason why they react like that is cause they think that music is to hard for us girls. I guess they don't think that we can be hardcore like that!!! They expect us to be real prissy and when they hear that we listen to that kind of music they take it as a joke!!

They see us as prissy girls, who cant understand the rock! Many guys see a girl and are like o shes sweet, but we cant get along. Guys dont understand whats on the inside!

i would die without metal. it's always been a guy's genre but now that's changing, thank God. more girls are getting into it and i read somewhere that half of ozzfest's attendees were girls. more metal bands have girls in them. arch enemy, otep, flyleaf, damone, lacuna coil, and evanescence are just a few. i have an issue of metaledge magazine that's a girls who rock issue and it's got a lot of girls in rock and metal. i love it.

well if you told me that you went to a metallica concert i would laugh to cause they suck but i wouldnt laugh cause you like metal arch enemy and sinister have female vocalists bolt thrower has a female bass player anciet dimmu borgir and grief of emerald all have had female members and dont forget the fat chick in cradle of filth i like death and black metal so if you like it also good for you keep rockin out
