They dress to the role they want to play. Even in those who don't want to cross gender lines with their affections have an understanding of the opposite gender and their place. There are men who want only men, but are only men when doing men. There are men who want only men, but want them like women want men. The dress and manners define which side of the coin they are on, even if they insist on the coin having only one side.

I regularly go to gay clubs and bars, and have a close circle of gay friends and the "queens" are not all that common. In fact if you walked into a gay bar without knowing that it was one, you could not tell the sexually orientation of the customers, purely by looking at them. The usual way that the media portray the gay guy is, for the most part, a fiction. The "I'm free" character, is a heartless parody, and rarely encountered.
My partner and I dress in the same way as any other male, and we are attracted to the latest fashions, like most other men are. Until we can get the general public to realise that the only difference between a gay guy and a str8 one is in sexual preference, the sooner will be get a fair deal and a level playing field in all areas of our lives.

It may appear that way. If you look beyond that thought you might notice that there are just as many gay people who do act and dress as their stereotypical gender.
It may just be that you pay more attention to those things you don't know of or understand.
I also know Str8 people who are females and dress in "men's" clothes. I'm sure there are men out there who wear "woman's" clothes and are str8 as str8 can be.
I am "Str8" and both tomboy at times and girlie. My sister is a very "butch" lesbian. -Her girlfriend is a "lipstick lesbian" and you'd never know she is gay. A good friend of mine is what some people refer to as a "flamer" but when you look at his boyfriend you would never guess he was into men.
It's not that things are "that" way, it's that you are somewhat close minded.
Have you ever bought a men's t-shirt or jacket?
-It has nothing to do with sexual preferance or gender.

Perhaps it is not that at all. Maybe they simply dress in a gender style that suits their personality and sexual preference. Maybe they're trying to attract the sex they most desire. I know I do! And sometimes the attraction I get is not always welcomed!

First off, you're stereotyping. The GLBTQI communities are just as diverse, if not more so, than any other group. The only reason that I can think of to back up what you're saying is that by living our "alternative lifestyle" we've already broken away from society's expectations. We're more free to express ourselves rather than dress according to what society says.

Most gay people don't dress as the other gender.
Its just that the ones who do are more readily recognized.

well i dress both ways,,either in jeans or a skirt.I can honestly say i am not attracted to girls any less than guys. With girls i am not sexually attracted to them,,but am so much more attracted in them in other areas.just because we dont want to sleep with a girl doesnt mean we dont like her.It makes me wonder,,you hate so many different people out there,,do you really like yourself??

I like wearing pants instead of dresses and skirts. Why punish me for wearing what I'm comfortable in? I like girls no matter what they wear, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
