People choose to be ignorant.... My aunts and uncles have racist attitudes, yet my cousins as well as myself are more open-minded and have friends (and significant others) of all cultures. So being "taught" is an excuse and I don't stand for it. If people go out of their way to learn about others' lifestyles (through actual contact, NOT overblown media reports and bullcrap books), they will be more accepting. From my experience, I've only learned to hate or love someone after I've had to live around them.

There are MANY reasons why some people are racists, not just one. Mostly it is based in fear and ignorance. People are still primitive. Eventually we won't be, but that will take a long time.

Some people feel inferior becsuse they were picked on when they were small. To compensate and draw the attention away from themselves, they try to magnify anything that might be wrong with others.

When shame and hatred mix together in the same person, the result is always inherently evil by nature. That outcome is the true nature of the unforgiving. Ethnocentric, egocentric and IGNOCENTRIC!!! You know....a person who is completely centered around ignorance! Yeah, "ignocentric"........Cool, I sort of like that!!!
