It took me like 5 times to understand what she was trying to say...all I want is to order my meal without having to repeat myself. There should be a requierment that these people should speak understandable english to work with the ENGLISH speaking public.
The english language is disappearing.

Because if they have to have some skill to get the job, and the knowledge of speaking, or worse reading, English, then the employers can't: (1) underpay them; (2) make them work overtime without paying them the required time and a half; and (3) drive down the wages of those who can, and do, speak English and know the laws.

I do agree with you that the English language is disappearing. However, the lack of English speaking workers is not the cause. We live in a nation where our television newscasters do not seem to have learned proper English grammar in school. Ex. "There's lots of reasons for that." REALLY - what happened to verb-subject agreement? The proper sentence is "There ARE lots of reasons for that.

Schools need to return the days when they taught students about grammar, proper diction, and proper writing skills.

Just to prove my point, you begin your discourse by saying "It took me LIKE 5 times ..." I understand that many people use the word "like," but it is entirely incorrect to write that way (unless you are an author writing a novel to show a character's lack of finesse.)

Because we have no laws against it! Get your public servants working to get a law on the books! If you live here, you speak English when dealing with the public. Just like if I went to live in another country, I would learn & speak their language!
If I am on the phone & there is an accent I can't understand, I will politely hang up & try back, or ask for an English speaking person to talk to.
Drive ins drive me nuts too, the speaker is bad enough for English, but add Spanish or Indian, & it is undecipherable!

Heck, when I visited Europe for vacation, I learned French & German to get along! People there were happy that I at least try to speak properly & helped me out lots! I was not the typical 'ugly' American visitor who can't be bothered, everyone speaks English, right?

The fix is simple. . if you do not like the service provided. . .do not use that facility. . Chose one of your liking. . . After all. . .this is America, and you have choices. . .Tell me. . how many people in the USA actually speak "English"? I am willing to bet it is very few, as the dialect is varied throughout this country and differ from the English the Brits use. Didn't we revolt from them years ago? Then why stick with a language from a country we did not like? We changed our money, the side of the road we drive on all to break away from that part of the world. . .don't you think it's time to speak our own language. . .sort of like Bush does?

employers at all levels are having a difficult time filling postions. I myself have had to hire people that were less then qualified for a entry level job! I hoped that they would at least appreciate the opportunity to learn. Out of six men I hired, two I fired and the other four workers are wonderful....

I have found that many Spanish speaking individuals are so hungry to improve their skills and their lives that they are the best workers.

Alot of it has to do with the fact that English speaking Americans think working at a fast-food restaurant is "beneath" them. I do agree that the person working in the drive thru area and at least one person working the front counter should speak fluent English.

I agree they should have to speak English. a lot of people say, well, Americans won't work those jobs. That is untrue. Many high school aged kids would and can speak proper English.

Just because you cant speak proper English it does not mean you cant get a job where ever you want. These people got a family to take care of, bills to pay just like you. You might get annoyed, but dont you think they get fustrated too.
