I loaned someone a few hundred dollars because I thought I could trust them... Been 3 months no sign of the money.

What, if anything, can I do to get the money back? Or am I boned?

I have an email where they admit that I loaned them the money and they have the intention of repaying... Does that count as a contract or anything near?

Your not boned, you can go to small claims and try to get the money back if you have a signed agreement. If not and you really think you will never get it back just take it as a good lesson.

Contact the person, ask for the money. Maybe the person is indeed not avoiding you but still in financial straits. Maybe he just has no intentions of re-paying you... find out, call that person and ask when you can expect re-payment. If the person is avoiding you, or doesn't reply... and you're in the same city, consider taking the person to Small Claims Court and take any/all proof you have of the loan.

print out this email and document or outline what happened when you lent this person,etc... write them a letter asking them for a payment towards the money owed, [make a copy] and sent it to them with a return receipt requested[ proof that they received it].. wait a week or two for them to contact you.. document everything. and if they do not pay you then file a small claims action against them. take your paperwork to court with you, present your case to the court and hope for a judgment in your favor.

For a third me and Vinny the Chin Carbon will visit them and get your money. We'll give him an offer he can't refuse. Then again, the Don, may make him sleep with the fishes.
