A fridge has 2 fans, one for the condenser, one for the evaporator.
The evaporator fan is the one inside the fridge or freezer compartment and it allows the cold air to be recirculated throughout the fridge, sometimes temperature drops in the fridge or freezer is not uncommon when a fan fails. The fan may not have failed, frost free fridges has a defrost timer, it cycles the fans, compressor and a heat strip that defrosts the unit.if the timer died in the cool mode its possible that your fridge will cool fine for a few days and ice will build up and start bulging the area between your freezer and fridge compartments causing more damage, call a service company to come and take care of it, a bunch of wasted food will cost you more than the repair..

The air circulating fan IN the fridge need to run to keep temp. The temp dropped, as in went down? Not so sure about that, if it went down I would think it is working, if up not working.

Ma by some more data is needed.

The fan helps to keep the compressor cool and helps in the efficiency of the cooling system. Yes replace the fan.

ummmm, I know absolutely nothing about refrigerators. I would think that the fan needs to be on to keep it cool.
