It may sound funny, but I've never seen a black person in my entire life neither have I ever seen a white person. Whoever brought up the black and white concept must have been color blind 'cause when I look around, all I see is brownish and pink colored people. Avoiding a person because his skin has a different color is a mental condition that needs urgent attention. There's nothing wrong with you brother. Those people just need to have their heads checked but you have to first stop seeing yourself as black. If you are black, then what's the color of charcoal?

You're, sadly, absolutely right. After a friend mentioned this to me, I sat on the tube and observed. The last seat (certainly on the district line) likely to be filled is that which is next to a black male. For black females, people were happier to be seated next to them but only after all the seats next to white people (male or female) had been filled. Try not to let it bother you, use the seat to rest your personal belongings on, but be warned some may see it as a challenge and come deliberately for that seat.

They are bigoted and racist, they need to take the blinkers off and see that you are a human being too and skin has nothing to do with who you are, I don't care who is sat on a bus or train and what colour they are, if the seat is empty then I sit on it.

Because every human being that ever lived would be adamant they are not racist and yet when push comes to shove,or sit in your case ,then basic inbuilt emotions always win the day.
Sorry it's just the way we all are.

People don't often sit next to me either, but I don't think it has anything to do with the colour of my skin. It's the look of contempt I give them. Sends out the message, please don't invade my space. Sometimes I don't even know I'm doing it.

i don't know but maybe they are apprehensive because of terrorism (sorry at least i am honest). even if you are not terrorists, people don't know people like nobody knew the london bombers, they probably just looked like normal everyday people and then BANG, it is not aimed at you personally but you can't blame people for being nervous, people died in those bombings after all.
