Married with Children
I worked at a job I hated to support my family, but other than that I had nothing in common with the Bundies.
Perhaps I loved it because it was so different than anything else on TV at the time.
I have recently watched the reruns in syndication and it holds up really well.
number two choice Barney Miller
best funniest esemble cast ever

Well - I still watch MASH every night before I go to bed...and it's been on the air for over 30 years! So, it's certainly stood the test of time.
But...I'm also really fond of the Dick Van Dyke show. I just love all the characters, and it puts me in a good mood.

Leave it to Beaver!!! For one thing Wally is adorable, from the early days right up to where he's getting ready to go off to college. And I just love the good old fashioned values that go along with the shows. The two boys are far from angels but they never really do anything mean, just plain old harmless mischief!!

MASH. Beautifully cast and written, funny and touching. You cared about the characters, even the annoying ones, New characters and replacements were added flawlessly. The series finale as the best ever and the show left you wanting more. And I can still enjoy the re-runs.

well i sort of have a timeline of sitcoms that caught my interest based on that time period in my life:
the cosby show - first of all, it's hilarious! i was a child then but it was a show about a black family so i could relate to it. plus it taught me values and made me appreciate my own family. i was also an only child so it also gave me a glimpse into the lives of siblings
dawson's creek - i was in high school so i could relate to the ups and downs of puberty, first love's, relationships, family issues, and friendships
felicity - i was in college so i fell in love with her character as a new freshman myself and once again i could relate to dealing with family, relationships, friendships, and now independece in the real world
sex in the city - i was a college graduate, single, living in the big city with my own place, and a real job. i definitely needed help with dating, sex, love, and all the other taboo topics that come with being an sexual adult. however, i'm still in my 20's but it gave me hope that i can look as good as them while still having fun in my 30's
now it's grey's anatomy - i've finally become fairly well adjusted as a single woman in the real world with plenty of experiences to keep me that way hopefully, and soon i'll be in the 25 and up category but i feel that this show has taught me more about the serious side of life. less about sex and more about love, commitment, responsibilities, etc. i like being able to relate to the characters standing on the edge of finding themselves and all that entails. i also like how it brings our imperfections to light and shows the beauty of it all as we grow, change, go on...but i guess all the sitcoms i listed did that in their own way.
i'm so grateful for the new dvd collections. it's like the disney collection to pass on to other generations. i definitely plan to pass each of my sitcoms on to my own children to share what the shows have given me and how they've effected my life.
