www.starfall.com is a great site.

Print very large black letters on white paper (1 letter as tall as a sheet of paper) and roll out playdough into 'snakes" Then use the snakes to form each letter.

Skip the alphabet and go directly to using sightwords. The book "How to Teach your Baby to read" has very good method for teaching sightwords for autistic/mr kids. I use some of the methods in my classroom. After they get some sightwords under their belts you then go back and teach the alphabet explicitly.

Trace the letter on your child's back and say the name of the letter.

Buy a leapfrog learning system. It's expensive but it's worth every penny.

Recognize that 3 months is not that long a time for teaching a child with autism and mild mr letters. It might take all year.

Make sure the letters are LARGE even though he may not have identifiable vision problems. Large is easy to read.

WwW.neuhaus.org has some great multisensory materials to use for learning the alphabet. Try the alphabet mats and letters.

The old OpenCourt reading curriculum for kindergarten had a tape with cards that had a different little story for each letter that you can act out.

Good luck.

There is a reading intervention called Incremental Rehearsal. It can be used for the alphabet also. You can Google-Develeoped by Dr. James (or Jim) Tucker- it but it is basically a flashcard method which is based on known words (letters) and one unknown word (letter). If he knows any words or letters by sight it can be used. Basically, u take the known letter(s) and add 1 unknown and go through the list- oh, never have more than 9 cards at a time. After each run subtract 1 known and add 1 unknown. This method works wonderfully and is based on repetition. it can be used for reading, alphabet, math, etc.

Teach the alphabet to them by using music and that does a good job teaching them and makes it fun for them, and i know this because i help at a special school where i work with kids from 5-8 years old. Some of the kids have autism and that is how they learn it.

you know that you can call up to the school or even the district in which your child attends and find out when they have trainings for what your looking for. teachers are trained professionals but they are still having to get refreshers due to laws and materials changing all the time. if you don't ask, you will never know. who knows, you might get to meet some of the other parents in your area dealing with the same situation and you guys will be able to help each other out.

It's possible to spend a lot of time and money searching for methods to show your kids how to read and improve their studying skills. Is difficult to teach a small child how to read, and actually engaging them to read is a challenge in itself. However it doesn't need to be like that as you got assistance from this program https://tr.im/cGnpS , Children Learning Reading program.
With Children Learning Reading you will show your son or daughter how to separate seems and separate phrases into phonemes, a vital point when your child is simply understanding how to spell.
The studying system from Children Learning Reading program allows you for children to learn rapidly and correctly, from simple phrases to phrases till they learn to see stories.

how old is he and what is his developmental age/level. If he is working/functioning at a lower level (say per-school to early K) he simply not be ready yet. All kids canname objects before letter recognitition, so for his age or developmental level he may be right on target.
