Hi:

I feel your pain! My baby is now 7.5 months old, but I went back to work when she was 8 weeks old.

I am sorry to say that she won't start sleeping through the night for a while. Mine didn't start until she was about 16 weeks, but she even still wakes up sometimes.

Has your doctor mentioned acid reflux as a possible problem? Acid reflux babies 1. have problems breast feeding, 2. get hungry often because of the reflux causing irritation, and 3.need to sit up at an angle for 30 minutes after eating.

If her bed isn't tilted up at the head, do it. If you don't have one already, get a bouncer seat that keeps him halfway sitting up. Unfortunately, I was up for an hour every time I fed my daughter, because she ate for 15 minutes, and I kept her in the bouncer seat for 45.

My daughter, since I implemented this, has NEVER spit up, and she sleeps much better. I tried prescription acid reflux meds, and they NEVER worked.

On the other hand, maybe your son is just hungry, and you should feed him more. I have been told by my pediatr. that I should feed her more if she wants more. I put 1T rice cereal for each 2 oz of formula.

At 7 weeks they are still setting up there routine!
I thought i was lucky with my first born - at three months he started sleeping a solid eight hours at night. On the other hand - my last child just turned 2 on the 13 of September and i am haveing a hard time getting her off the bottle as she STILL wakes up at least once through the night for a refill!

Each and every child is different! There's no predicting when it will happen. Good luck to you and your's

my son was way different he would not sleep very much during the day he would cry, & play, my wife tried reading to him he seemed to settled down a bit. but started up again he had 2 bottles prier 2 that so she gave him another bottle that seemed to work he went out like a light. it just all depends on the baby some perfer more milk than others my son was just a few weeks old his birth weight was 5 pounds & a few ounces. but not last but least my wife was so worn out she was not getting the proper rest so she decided 2 put our son on some baby food so that he could get some sleep him self guess what? it worked my son slept that whole entire day just napping here & there it was so awesome he even slept the night through my wife was so scared she kept waking up just 2 see if he was still breathing or what so my advice 2 you go ahead & put your son on some soft baby food fruits, veggies, & such you will see the big difference in his sleeping habits. [good luck]

It is true that all babies sleep patterns are different. Some children will sleep through the night the day they come home others it takes a lot longer. The best thing you can do is make sure that you are not putting the baby in your bed. My son used to sleep through the night but then I noticed that he was waking up a lot more. The reason I believe to be is that my mother in law who watches him during the day was laying down with him and sleeping next to him when it was nap time. He got used to it and that was the only was to get him to sleep and stay asleep. So my advice is make sure you put him in his crib to sleep. I bet he will start sleeping all night soon.

I gave my babies a little baby cereal every night before bed to help fill their little tummy's with an 8 oz bottle of formula or breast milk. They were on cereal at the age of 1 week and as long as I only give them a teaspoon of baby rice cereal mixed with either the formula or breast milk before bed every night and gave them a warm bath they slept well all night! My doctor didn't like it but I told him who is the one raising the baby? To this day they are happy healthy kids and are now 6 yrs old and 8 yrs old.

You can't predict when any baby will sleep through the night. Every baby is different and they don't develop a pattern until you put them on some sort of schedule. My baby is 8 weeks old and sleeps through the night where as my son wa 3 days old and slept through the night. My niece is 4 months old and still doesn't sleep through the night. It's just a matter of time. And you have to work with your baby as much as possible. I got lucky with my son. My daughter I had to work with, but she eventually got it.

Some babies can actually sleep through the night; some babies can't and need some time and some coaxing in order to fall asleep.
When I use to babysit, what I use to do to get the baby to sleep was to walk her around outside in the nice cool air. I would strap her in her stroller, get her buttoned up and put a blanket on her and then, took her out. A couple of blocks later, she would be sound asleep. Through the night, nothing. Absolutely no sound.
Now, depending on what neighborhood you live at or something, if you can't do that, take him outside, sit down with him and let the cool air hit him Stroke his head and hum to him. He will fall a sleep like that. Rock him in a slow motion. I hope this helps.

It will happen when it is time. I don't believe in keeping them up so they will sleep later. My daughter, when younger, always woke up earlier in the AM if she went to bed late. Just as everyone was telling me how to keep her up and tire her out, she started sleeping through the night at 9 weeks. All on her own, starting with a straight 6 hours. I also went back to work at 7 weeks, so I understand what it's like to be up feeding at 4am when you have to be to work at 8!

It all depends on the baby. I didn't sleep a whole night till I was about 3 years old and my cousin was almost 5 years old before he slept a whole night thru. My 9 month old daughter has slept all night scence the day she was born.
