I am doing a graduate paper on magazines for adolescents. I know what teen girls read, but I am not as familiar with what teen boys read. Any examples or titles would be greatly appreciated. I just need to know subject matter, etc. Also, why do you think that teen boys media is not as congruent as all the teen girls stuff. For example, teen boys do not have a magazine that tells them how to dress, workout tips, dating, etc.

Gaming magazines, Playboy, FHM, Stuff, MAXIM etc... they can also read Mens Health etc. Young men in general do not read as much as young woman in the first place, guys tend to look for specific answers to a problem then move on like cheat codes to a game etc.

My son is 9 and he reads Sports Illustrated for Kids and his Boys Life magazines that he gets from Cub Scouts. He will also read his dads car or motorcyle magizines if it has Tony Stewart in it.

My oldest son, 15, reads Nintendo Magazine. He'll read them over and over and never throws one away. My youngest son (12) reads hobby magazines, which change with his interests, like collector card magazines. They both read more about their interests on the internet than magazines though.

Playboy, Stuff, FHM, etc. And yes, adolescent boys do read those.

Unfortunately, teenage girls are taught that they should be concerned with looks, weight, makeup, fashion, boys, dating, etc. (all in an effort to be the most attractive to boys as possible), while teenage boys are taught to view women in terms of their looks, sex appeal, etc. The result is a society where men can shoot for the stars socially, financially and professionally while keeping an eye out for the perfect arm candy or sexual fantasy. Girls get to work hard towards being as beautiful and sexy as possible in the hopes of someday snagging one of those great men.
