How could it do that? I'm not good at mathematics at all, but surely x=75-15, or 60.

subtract 15 from both sides

15 + x - 15 = 75 -15

x= 60.

x = 60, not 90. 15 + x (60) = 75.

You added 15 to both sides; you're supposed to subtract. x equals 60.
