I LOVE Iceland! I went in March and we did need coats, but were walking around with them unzipped. The summer is the preferred time to go and of course higher prices. Iceland is one of the safest destinations, but because they import everything in it is VERY expensive!! Recommend if you go to visit the Dubliner. Older pub with a lot of flare to it. Also must do the Hot Springs in the Mountains.

Have a Great Trip and let me know if you have further questions.

It depends on what you want from the experience. Summer is the most popular time of the year for visiting Iceland.

Summer is great for travelling around the country, you see the nature well, days are long (there is daylight at night in summer) and the weather is generally ok in summer.

Winter is a good time to go there if you're interested in winter travelling on snowscooters or jeeps for example. The nature looks beautiful in winter, but days are shorter and the weather may not be very nice, so you might see less than in summer due to the conditions. December and January are the darkest time of the year, there is daylight for only a couple of hours per day and when it's very cloudy there may be no daylight at all. The Christmas and New Year's season is very popular for tourists though, because Reykjavík is full of Christmas lights in December and looks beautiful and Icelanders go crazy on New Year's Eve and lit the whole sky with fireworks, so that's another interesting possibility for tourists to see.

Nightlife is great in Iceland all year round.

I hope this information helps you see which time of the year is best for you. If you need more information you can e-mail me and I'll try to answer your questions.
