Can someone please help me! Was Edgar Allan Poe English? I need to know for my coursework. Thanx.

Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston but moved to England and Scotland with his godfather's family upon the death of his parents. He returned to the US in 1820 and resumed schooling in Virginia.

BTW- I think he was also an alcoholic, which is why he died fairly young.
