The other day, I was having my normal afternoon baking soda snack, when I decided to change things up have a tall cold glass of refreshing vinegar with it. All of the sudden foam and gas was pouring out of my mouth, making for an akward moment in the break room at work. Should I write to the baking soda producer or grocery store to let them know the baking soda was bad?

Yes, I definitely believe you have a strong case for a lawsuit here. Of course, it*is* true that baking soda and vinegar together will foam up and that this is taught in basic chemistry. Nonetheless, many people either don't take basic chemistry or don't do well in it.

Clearly, then, large and easily read warnings should appear on both products in at least three languages. These warnings should say something to the effect that consuming both simultaneously can lead to uncomfortable (and possibly dangerous, though I seriously doubt it) reactions.

It occurs to me, as well, that if you took basic chemistry you may have a case against the chemistry instructor. Did he or she cover this reaction between baking soda and vinegar? Can he or she prove it?

There are some deep pockets here which are ripe for plundering. Our abused legal system is bound to help you in your efforts to do so.

Good luck with that.

No, this is normal. I do this all the time for indigestion. Since you ask this in the fish category I tell you another good snack. Just before you have your Vinegar and Baking Soda, swallow a live gold fish. It will come swimming out in the foam and be very shiny.
