I can extend sympathy to the guy who was stabbed, and for the baby. As for the parents? I just can't bring myself to care what they're going through.

Sounds harsh? Maybe it is, and there's nothing to suggest that they are in any way responsible for the grandfather's death, so in a way I suppose I am being harsh.

BUT...they ARE responsible for their baby's death.

THEY took on 2 very powerful dogs, taught them (amateurishly it seems) to be aggressive, then gave them unfettered access to a 5 month old baby. How the hell else was that going to end?

At best they were grossly negligent, at worst I can't help wondering if there should be a case for manslaughter.

Given how little care they showed for their own child, I can't bring myself to care about them at all.

If anyone can prove me wrong I'll take that back but for now, let them rot.

Edited to add: having looked again at the article, there are some gaps in the story. The harsh words I used earlier still apply to the owner of the dogs, but it's not clear whether the owners of the dogs were the baby's parents.

Sympathy extended to those not at fault, I take back SOME of what was said above.

What I can't understand is why the press have been so swift to condemn the dogs, yet there appears to be no condemnation of the dog owners that are responsible for the tragedy?

Well I think its shocking!!! But the poor little baby. Ive got a 15 month old baby and I would be in such a great amount of shock if that had happened to her, but on the other hand I wouldnt look after a pub that is guarded by 2 rottwilers even if it was my families pub.

It's all very sad, but why oh why do you have to keep giving us your source? Do you think nobody else reads newspapers or gets the news from radio and TV? We KNOW about the stabbings, we KNOW about the dogs - and thanks to Big Brother and that woman called Bonnie who used the Leics accent all the time, we now know what the woman in the TV interview which was shown all night and all this morning on TV was saying when she kept referring to the BABER in the pub.

Sad and hard to believe they're not connected. Though the bug question remains how did rotweilers get access to a 5 month old child and nobody notice it happening. ALL dogs should be watched with children. The whole thing is very strange

It's very sad, but now we have to start putting a stop to things like this, with proper punishments. Proper prison sentences, life should mean life not 10 -15 years and we should bring back the death penalty.

The fickle finger of fate delivers some astonishingly heavy blows at times but you have to wonder at times if there is more than meets the eye in some stories.

I don't think you can put into words just how much of a tradgedy this is. It just goes to show that our whole life can change in a second and we should live every one to its fullest.
