Go to Appalachia.
These are people who are destitute, away from any metropolitan area. They are often miles away from the nearest village or mail stop.
They live off the land, hunting and gathering, perhaps squatting on federal or corporate land.
They have little, both materially and in regards to opportunity. And, in contrast to the urban poor, there are few resources open to help them.

It depends upon the context of the question. In the UK, rural poverty is caused by the effects of various factors. Mainly, the European union, globalization and the buying of properties for holiday homes by people from outside. Europe has placed restrictions and ridiculous rules upon the ways of the farmers and much of the produce in supermarkets comes from anywhere but the UK although many things could and did used to be produced in the UK. Greedy and largely unregulated estate agents have promoted many of these areas as idyllic places for the richer city dwellers to buy holiday homes at inflated prices and so pushing the locals out of the housing market completely.

The largest segment of the world's poor are the 800 million poor women, children and men who live in rural environments. These are the subsistence farmers and herders, the fishers and migrant workers, the artisans and indigenous peoples whose daily struggles seldom capture world attention.
Brings to mind an old antedote "Land Rich, Dirt Poor"
