A gelding a male horse that has been castrated (had his testicles removed). Before they're castrated, male horses are called stallions.
Castrating a stallion is believed to make him calmer and easier to ride and control.

A gelding is a stallion that has been gelded.
That means that his male reproductive glands have been surgically removed. The other less delicate way of saying this is that he was castrated.
It is rarely a good idea to get a gelding right after he has been cut.
Especially if he has been a stud horse or a stallion left to his own devices. Stallions develop a lot of bad habits. They can be agressive and unpredictable. Geldings that have been adult stallions can remember these bad habits and will often take a long time to calm down. Sometimes they never settle in.
ON THE other hand. I have had a stud pony that was a working stud until he was 15 and then gelded. He was a great school pony until he was 30. Not always an angel, but not a bad boy.
To call the horse, he has to believe it is in his best interest to come to you.
He will come to you if he is a little hungry and remembers that you are kind and have a treat when you call. Your evening routine should be a fun time for him.
Call him and pet him, calm him and then treat him. You may need to work up to this gradually.
Call the local 4-H clubs that deal with horses. there will be at least one. Look under "Agricultural extension service" or USDA and your county on google.

A gelding is a castrated (neutered) stallion/colt.
Sometimes when I wanted to call a horse up to the gate I would whistle. To train them you can start by calling them and having a treat ready when they get there. Soon you will be able to leave a treat in their stall or their dinner. They will learn and will come when you call.
Otherwise you will have to go out and catch the horse. If you have trouble you might have to keep the guy in a smaller pen until he is more able to be caught. Well actually willing to be caught. It takes time and patience, as does most things, but it can be done. Hope this helps.

A gelding is a castrated stallion. They are gelded as for one reason or another they are not up to the standard for a horse used for breeding purposes. They are much calmer than a non-gelded stallion and make wonderful horses to own for riding and such.

A gelding is a castrated male horse. His testicles have been removed surgically.
I don't know how long you have had this horse but you might want to ask some people at your stable for advice in help with your horse. Horse people generally love to help out other horse people!
It seems that you are fairly new to the horse world and the only way that you are going to learn more is by research and experience.
Check out this website. It is a great horse resource and will help you learn LOTS!!!

A gelding is a fixed horse. He is no longer fertile.
Usually after a stallion is fixed they get calmer so they are easier to handle.
Try rattling a feed bucket and if that doesn't work, go out into the field(or where ever you're horse is) and bring a halter . If he runs away, just gently chase him until he tires out and surrenders to you. Then approach him very quietly from the side and hold out your hand for him to sniff. Then gently put the lead rope around his neck so he knows that he's caught and put the halter on. Voila! Caught a horse!

A gelding is a male horse that has been castrated, like neutering a dog. To get your horse in at night try doing it before feeding time. For awhile you might have to go a get the horse but after you bring it in feed it its supper so it will start to equate coming in with feeding and soon should come to the gate without issues.

A gelding is a male horse who has had it's testicles removed so it can no longer breed.
Most people take their halter and lead rope out into the pasture and wlak up to the horse throw the lead rope over the neck and then put on the halter.
We feed ours every night when they come in off pasture.
I swing the chain on the gate against the gate and make it clang the horses come running as that means they are getting fed.
If you feed them every night at about the same time they will learn to come when you clang the gate chain.

A gelding is a castrated gelding. AKA A horse without the testicles. The vet takes them out through surgery which makes the horse calm and is able to be with mares.

As for "calling a horse in" to come in for the night, please keep in mind that horses are not dogs. It is not like in the movies where Zorro whistles for his horse and low and behold here comes the black stallion.
Your best bet is to get a bucket with a handful of the grain you typically feed. Go to the pasture gate and call your horse's name and shake the bucket at the same time. He'll look up at you, so shake the bucket some more and let him see it. That should get his attention enough to start walking towards you and in some cases for those crazy horsie souls who think food is the Holy Grail, they'll gallop to you (don't expect them to stop at your feet either!). Eventually, you should be able to just call your horse's name or just shake a bucket with some grain and your horse will eagerly come in because they know they're getting fed once they come in. Good luck!
