You can put together an outfit with vintage clothing purchased at the Goodwill or Salvation Army store for next to nothing (or, if you have a St. Francis or other church run thrift shop in your area, they get a lot of estates). Are you dark haired? Go for something classic like Audrey Hepburn or Jackie Kennedy. Fair? Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable or Carole Lombard. A red head? Lucy! A person of color? Dorothy Dandridge or Billie Holiday. Just look on the internet for pictures of these women (or any classic movie or singing star of the past), what they wore, how they did their hair and makeup. It's fairly easy. You might even find that you like an updated version of the look to become your personal style!

Elvis is the easy option. All decent fancy dress places will have a costume. Also, Marilyn Monroe is pretty easy. For something a bit different, go as Einstein.

Come on, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezy, leather trousers, big belt buckle, bottle of jack and a zoot and hey presto,its Jim Morrison, Elvis is easy, Marilyn Monroe a doddle,or you could attach a steering wheel to your head and go as Lady Di, Dodgy moustache, white leather trousers and a cut off mike stand and you too can look just like Freddie Mercury, dennis the menace red n black jumper, safety pin thru nose and syringe in hand and u could be johhny rotten.
